Toddy Cold Brew Coffee Maker + 250g Cold Brew Blend - $59.90 (Free Delivery) @ Seven Miles

60

Good buy considering it's cheaper than most retailers, includes a 250g bag of coffee and ships free!

Keep in mind, however, the Toddy brewer now ships with a silicone lid, which I don't think this is included in this older stock. Not critical at all to the brewing process, but does stop anything potentially getting into the brew if that's a concern.

  • Anyone care to explain the difference between the kmart $11 cold brew jug VS this? Genuinely curious, I've recently started drinking a lot more cold brew during intermittent and your knowledge would be appreciated
My understanding from a Joshua Weissman YouTube vid is that the end product is similar?

    • +2

Cold brew is essentially just the process of immersing ground coffee in cold or room temp water for 12+ hours in a bucket, and then draining it through a filter.

A few benefits to the toddy:
You can load in up to half a kilo of coffee and create a concentrate that will last a couple weeks in the fridge with the airtight lid.
The filters (paper bags + felt) will let a lot less sediment through than the mesh of the kmart one.
It's more durable given it's a very sturdy plastic and quite a solid glass decanter.

Toddy is overpriced if you're looking for the occasional cold brew, compared to Oxo and the like. However, if volume is important to you, it's worth it.

      • A lot less sediment is good! I find I end up having to throw the last 50ml of my brew because of all that sediment
        Thank you so much

  • Anyone who has an aeropress, a great alternative is the Puck Puck

    • Puck Puck is cold drip coffee, not brew, which is an important distinction.
One is percolation (drip), other is immersion (brew).
Cold Brew is slower to brew, yet sweeter and smoother and hard to stuff up. It also produces a more versatile concentrate.
Cold Drip is faster to brew, yet harder to get right; more bodied, yet less concentrated (and therefore harder to blend).
