On this, International Talk Like William Shattner day I thought it was appropriate to note that BigW have the new "Droid Escape 9490" set on sale - $10 off their normal discounted price. If you can find it, it sells around the $40 mark out here (which hurts a lot given that it's under US$20 on Amazon), this actually makes it not that bad at all….. in particular given that as well as the escape pod and a bike, it comes with four minifigs including R2D2 and C3PO. I expect you could probably split up the set and sell the bits individually on eBay and make a profit…. if you could be bothered!

I dropped by Southland (Vic) around 11am today as they said they were showing as being in stock - but had sold out. When I asked if there were any out the back, the guy looked confused and went to where (apparently) he'd put a whole stackload that morning. You may be luckier with your local BigW but shipping was only $7 so (although they told me that they will be ordering in some more) I just bought a couple online. I should note that they also have the large Tie Fighter 9492 set for $68.

And…. OH - NO - I - HAVE - mixedmyuniverses! Khaaaaaaaaannnn….. ;-)

  • www.shopforme.com.au is cheaper. But I have not compared postage rates.

    • True…. good find! But the other day when I checked they didn't have it in stock…. obviously have got some more in! Cool. So they're $0.75 cheaper, but shipping (to Melb) was/is $8.35 versus $7. so basically lineball if you want to - say - buy two (which is the limit at shopforme)… although with BigW you can use those discounted 'wish' vouchers.. ;-)

  • Please let there never be an International sing like William Shatner Day.

    • dear [insert favourite deity name here] I hope not as well… <grin>

  • Thanks OP.
Brisbane Big W has 15 in stock. Will pick one up for my kid's birthday.

  • Sorry to thread hijack.. I picked up a 1700+ Pieces Mega Blocks Ultimate Vehicle Collection set (lego clone) the other day for $50 on clearance from Target in Brisbane. I'm pretty impressed by it (and so is my son :) ).

    http://www.amazon.com/Mega-Blocks-Ultimate-Vehicle-Collectio…

The pieces seem to fit / be compatible with our lego.

There is something like 12 different vehicles you can build, and a big station.

    • This should be a bargain on its own.
