nbn FTTP with Dodo via TP-Link Deco M5 Mesh Router

Hi All

I have a mesh system with the main node connected via ethernet to ISP supplied modem/router. It wouldn't work by just connecting NBN hardware directly to the main node.

I've tried setting dynamic IP on main node but no luck. My NBN is FTTP.

Am I doing something worng here? Or do I need to call up DODO to change a setting?

Plug in a Deco to the nbn NTD again.

In the Deco settings make these changes specifically for Dodo.

    Tap on the More icon.
    Advanced.
IPv4 = PPPoE and input your Dodo account username + password.
    Save.

    Go back to advanced.
    IPTV/VLAN.
    IPTV/VLAN toggle on.
    Internet VLAN toggle on.
    Mode = custom.
    Internet VLAN ID of 100
    Internet VLAN priority of 0
    Save.

How to configure VLAN ID for your internet connection on Deco?

Thanks for the detailed response. I just realised my password was pre populated so I'll need to call dodo to retrieve this before I can try the method above.

    • Also do you know if I need IPv6 enabled on the deco? As it's currently enabled on ISP modem

Setup IPv4 first. IPv6 is optional.

Worked like a charm using the above steps. Thanks mate

The only thing wrong is you select Dodo as your ISP…. back in the days they told me BYO router won't work after I sign up with them, as they have "special firmware" within their own router, and they not happy to share any of the setting to me, so I end up cancel the contract for free after like 20 calls back and forth.

above probably is the right setting to use.

    • Dodo can be a poor speed experience even on nbn FTTP. As long as the router supports the PPPoE protocol and VLAN ID it is compatible with Dodo.

that's what they told me 4~5 years ago when I first got FTTP installed. Never again, in fact I won't use any ISP using PPPoE on FTTP.

        • IPoE is great and no ISP password to deal with.

I've had pretty reliable and good speed with hardly any drop outs using standard ISP supplied modem and mesh system.

But I'm looking to get rid of the modem as it's sort of just redundant.
