I was an ebay seller and an early adopter of masks, There were 6000 people selling masks, so I decided to join them. It was just another product

      • +1

        early adopter of masks

Masks didn't get invented in 2019.

You hoarded them based on the covid-19 pandemic and Ebay said you were profiting off a human tragedy.

        • -1

no I was preventing human tragedy. I never caught covid because I followed my own advice

          • @screensaver:

no I was preventing human tragedy.

You hoarded them and went to sell them.

Don't get all high and mighty, it's not like you paid for them and gave them away.

You sold 200 to a nursing home.

            • @deme: yes I did, I ended up giving them to a homeless charity

              • @screensaver: How many did you buy in total?

                • @deme: cant recall

                  • @screensaver: This isn't ICAC, you can just search your inbox.

                    • @deme: it was a few hundred, I know I gave away 600 and am using the rest

                      • @screensaver: So you bought "a few hundred"
You know you gave away 600, does this include the 200 you sold?

Did you seriously buy >600 masks and try sell them on ebay during a pandemic?

                        • @deme: yes, I was a distributor of health products. I no longer sell anything due to high postage costs etc

                          • @screensaver: What other health products did you sell?

                            • @deme: foot detox patches and some other things

                              • @screensaver: Would you say your goal was to profit off purchasing masks in bulk and then selling them?

                                • @deme: it was just another health product to me. I bought it from the same place as the foot detox patches, which was China, so I brought extra ones into the country

                                  • @screensaver: Was this the first time you were selling health products?

                                    • @deme: no, I had a store

                                      • @screensaver: What was the expected profit margin from selling the masks on ebay?

                                        • @deme: there had to be a margin to keep the store running, There was a monthly subscription charge, listing fees, final value fees, postage fess, and foreign currency exchange, and gst

                  • +1

                    @screensaver:

no I was preventing human tragedy.

                    shame you couldn't prevent yourself.

      Atheists Credo
"It is almost impossible systematically to constitute a natural moral law.
      Nature has no principles.
She furnishes us with no reason to believe that human life is to be respected.
Nature in her indifference, makes no distinction between good and evil."

[modern environmentalism] “the religion of choice for urban atheists … a perfect 21st century re-mapping of traditional Judeo-Christian beliefs and myths.” Michael Crichton

“When men have ceased to believe in Christianity, it is not that they will believe in nothing. They will believe in anything.”
      G K Chesterton
That "anything" today is the holy writ of catastrophic climate change.

In The Beginning was The Claim,
On the Second Day followed The Hysteria,
On the Third Day, dissenters were Shouted Down,
By the Fourth Day, the evil was known as 'Carbon Dioxide',
On the Fifth Day, the pollies forced the people to trade the evil,
By the Sixth Day (it was freezing) no-one remembered The Claim,
And on the Seventh Day, Al Gore counted his Carbon Trading Commissions
and Blessed the Earth (and all the fools on it)

Having kicked God out of their lives, people embrace the pathological with fanatical religious fervour.
Jordan Peterson has an interview with two religious scholars and they discuss how people who’ve dropped religion start to believe in all kinds of random crap.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsmSBJMSRQk

Take the new age religion of catastrophic climate change, for example … say no more….

Now say three Hail Gores and kneel in prayer to the scroll of the Paris Climate Agreement. Blessed are the close-minded alarmists for they shall inherit the money and grant-making agenda, with abundant perks and climate conference trips.

“The global climate movement is an urban fundamentalist atheistic religion shaped to plug the hole left by failed Western socialism and failed Western Christianity” Ian Plimer

    • Jordan Peterson has an interview with two religious scholars and they discuss how people who’ve dropped religion start to believe in all kinds of random crap.

Well, if Jordan Peterson says so….

who would have thought that interviewing an 'assistant professor' at a 'Faculty of Divinity', or an Anglican Priest, would result in a conculsion that those who left religion must be missing something and therefore start believing in 'all kinds of random crap'.

I'm absolutely shocked…shocked I tell you. Thats a bigger twist than an M. Night Shyamalan movie…

Linking a lack of religious belief with "perhaps we shouldn't continue to trash this planet" is a very strange line of argument/debate.
Was Jesus also pro coal? Maybe that was what the 4th wiseman was meant to bring.

      • -3

""perhaps we shouldn't continue to trash this planet"

BREAKING NEWS (for wilfully blind alarmists) … we're NOT "trashing the planet"

        Climate Catastrophe? What catastrophe?
        Some catastrophe!!
        Agriculture yields are up- https://ourworldindata.org/yields-and-land-use-in-agricultur….
        Poverty has decreased- https://ourworldindata.org/a-history-of-global-living-condit….
        Life expectancy has increased- https://ourworldindata.org/life-expectancy.
Deaths from weather related disasters have declined- https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/natural-disaster-death-ra….
Planet and deserts are greening from the increase in CO2- https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2016/carbon-dioxide-fer…

We KNOW from climate history that a few degrees of warming is beneficial to all life, as is more CO2.
The entire CAGW story is built on the lie that climate change is bad … it isn’t.

        • Planet and deserts are greening from the increase in CO2

Most of that is not from an increase in CO2, its from increased agricultural and planting in China and India
          https://www.forbes.com/sites/trevornace/2019/02/28/nasa-says…
If it was CO2 based it would be evenly distributed around the globe.

          the rest….
Shocked again that our agricultural yields have improved over time due to increased technology/farming knowledge, our life expectancies have increased due to improved living standards and medical research. Absolutely shocking.
The rate of internet usage and cloud computing compared to 1960 is also massively increased. Similarly shocking.

Literally none of that says 'we aren't adding excessive CO2 to the planet every year'. But at least you tried…i guess.
But it's ok, we can probably just pray for the things like the polar ice caps to stop melting.

But regardless, its been a well known scientific fact for many many decades that we (humans) are causing an increase in this planet climate change and continual warming.
Won't be your or my direct problem, as we'll be dead before the s**t truly hits the fan.
And some random idiot posting strange interviews with such high quality sources as Jordan Peterson, on an ozbargain post about some free webinars by a 'spiritual advisor', as a basis to discuss 'failed Western christianity' and 'urban fundamentalist atheists' isn't going to change that (or how others view your rational views).

I bet you also claim the the Mediæval Warm Period was regional … anything that challenges your leftie warmunist narrative must be denied!

The Medieval Warm Period And Little Ice Age In San Francisco Bay
In a study that sheds additional light on this subject, McGann (2008) analyzed a sediment core retrieved from the western portion of south bay near San Francisco International Airport (37°37.83'N, 122°21.99'W) for the presence of various foraminifers, as well as oxygen and carbon stable isotopes and numerous trace elements found in the tests of Elphidium excavatum.
                What was learned
The U.S. Geological Survey researcher reports that "benthic foraminiferal abundances, stable carbon and oxygen isotopes, and Mg/Ca ratios suggest that the climate of south bay has oscillated numerous times between warm and dry, and cool and wet conditions over the past 3870 years," and that "both the Medieval Warm Period [MWP] and the Little Ice Age [LIA] are evident."
                What it means
The new results and their concurrence with results obtained by many other researchers — both nearby and across the country on the east coast of the United States — continue to strengthen our contention that (1) the warming of the past century or so has been nothing more than the natural and only-to-be-expected recovery of the earth from the extremely cold conditions of the LIA, which phenomenon has yet to return the planet to the level of sustained warmth characteristic of the MWP, and that (2) this transition has had nothing to do with the increase in the air's CO2 concentration that has occurred over the same time period.

You have gone well past the level of stupidity/troll/nutter which I bother to respond to around here… and I usually responded to SlavOz.. so, congrats on making the grade.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

                  • @SBOB: You can tell which flavour of nutter your dealing with by the names they call their opposition….

"leftie warmunist narrative" is a new one, wonder which YouTube channel it came from.

      • -2

"Was Jesus also pro coal? "

I suspect yes, because coal has been one of humanities' greatest benefactors, and he was pro-humanity, as opposed to leftie warmunists who are hell bent on population culling at any cost.

By driving up the cost of energy and causing instability in electrical grids they have increased winter mortality and cost lives. Even greater loss of life has been caused in developing countries, where the installation of reliable fossil-fuelled energy has been displaced by insistence on intermittent, near-worthless wind and solar power schemes.

Perhaps the greatest cost and loss-of-life has been due to the gross misallocation of global resources, where obvious first priorities such as clean water and sanitation systems, the fight against malaria, and the fight against world hunger have been displaced due to excessive spending on green energy follies.

These are crimes against humanity – they should be prosecuted and the scoundrels and imbeciles who promoted this nonsense should go to jail.
