    … Why?

    • +150

This is the OzBargain equivalent to locker room girth measurment.

      • +3

        What a waist !

      • Can I still play if I want it not to be a competition?

      • +5

Finally a game I can win at ;)

        • +1

          Username ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

        • Lily says hi

    • +20

It's called a humble brag (but this one's not so humble)

      • so then its just called a brag?

    • +32

      Mines under $72 million

      • +20

….. quite a lot under 72 million come to think of it.

        • +26

          Mine's a lot higher than 72 million… just can't remember which currency

      • +5

Is that one of the Obeid mines?

      • Mines worth up to $72 million

    • +2

      Correct and its totally irrelevant

      Its more like..
Can you afford to buy a property?
      How much can you afford?

      Much more relevant today

      • +2

Or- what is your household income as a % of property value, and when did you first buy.

    • +6

A lot of people get pleasure from telling people how much money they have, but unfortunately it doesn't bring them happiness

    • To get the crypto crowd salty. $8k into SHIB that is now worth like $5bn but still live in a crap flat and can only take $50k out a day.

      • That wallet is a net buyer. They haven't sold a single SHIB or other ERC20 in >3Y.

They clearly make enough income from other sources to not bother cashing out into fiat money.

        • Knew it will get the salty out of their hole.

They clearly make enough income from other sources to not bother cashing out into fiat money.

Clearly those with enough money needs to make more betting on a risky asset.

  • +20

My house is worth nothing, but I have a property portfolio of over $38 million… if only I had enough money to fix a fence.

    • +5

True value is more like $37.99 million. Remember that the local council owns the trees in your backyard. Easily overlooked but worthy of a reminder.

      • So bullshit how much power local Council has over your property.

    • +5

Isn't that like 2 houses in Sydney?

      • +31

2 houses? What do you think i am, rich or something? No, it’s a timeshare on a parking spot in Ultimo.

        • lol

        • No, it’s a timeshare on a parking spot in Ultimo.

Worth a shitload more now, thanks to cracked trams.

  • +3

Op planning to sell up and join the hordes of southerners snapping up QLD real estate

    • +8

A week in qld for a holiday is enough for me!

      • +2

That's only if they let you in.

A week in qld for a holiday is enough for me!

A week in qld for quarantine is enough for me!

  • +10

It's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it

    • +2

Indeed. Unless you're trying to sell right now and can find someone who wants to buy, looking at valuation and thinking "I'm rich" is absurd, prices are not fixed and your gains are imaginary.

  • +1

    Cash it out then. :)

    • +2

Only good if your are downsizing or moving to another state :/

      • +6

Then it’s just "only on paper (but not in reality)"

Unlike shares, you can’t sell a fraction of that asset.

        • +1

Equity draw down invest in shares. Now it's reality with a conservative 5% spread on whatever the bank thinks he can service.

      • +1

Could cash in by moving to WA, except we won't let you in.

    • +3

Imagine cashing out and buying a caravan.

  • +7

    5 million plus

How many nurses banking huge $$$ do you think there are on ozbargain?

Nice flex by the way op.

  • +10

    Its disgusting.

  • Do Not Know….

  • +7

    r/iamveryrich is leaking.

  • +25

    #PaperWealthBragRights

mine has gone up between 1.5 to 2 mill, absolutely crazy I'm in Sydney.

    Weird flex but ok.

    • +3

Mine has gone up $1.5million since I started reading this thread

      • My gorge has risen quite a bit in the same timeframe.

    • Have you factored in that the profit is tax free. It has also provided shelter, which saves on rent.

      • +4

C'mon you don't know rektrading very well. He'll probably describe in detail about collateral loans on his crypto portfolio and never pay tax.

        • -1

There are two ways to take advantage of assets.

The first option is to sell. The CGT on a $250,000 sale is $83,167. That is a $166,833 profit.
          https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/393946/92305/screensho…

Option two is to use an ELOC. The interest on a $167,000 loan at 1% 30Y is $58,398. This gives people access to money to invest, avoid taxes and they get to keep their assets.

      • -1

Unrealized gains are neither profits nor taxable.

The saving on the rent is offset by the P&I.

  • +23

Combined, myself and Elon musk have a net worth of USD 281.6 billion.

We don't have any property, both rent.

    • +1

      $281.6007 billion… Just didn't use enough decimal places 😁

      • +3

No no, $281.6 billion as I owe .0007 billion in credit card debt, which brings our net worth down.

        • +1

Well, someone had to bring his down a notch

          But only a notch

    • +1

thought musk boy slept in his factory

      • And doesn't eat smashed arvo on toast

  • +21

If I tried to offload all my property I'd probably have $2,000 maybe a little bit less depending how the second hand TV market is.

    • Your slow car alone would be more than 5K I reckon 😂😂

      • Perpetual loaner I'm afraid.

  • +4

Much more than it should be.

  • +1

    Oh wow cool

  • +1

Whatever someone's willing to pay for it..

  • +3

    Lmao love the scale 🙄

  • +61

    What a stupid poll.

If your house is under $1 million, you need to tick all the boxes except for the last one.

    • +7

I ticked the last one too because I didn't want it to feel left out :)

    • Oh boy! I better get ticking

    • but you cant tick more than one box…

      • per account…

        • You have more than one account?

  • +8

Bragging thread? Ok so a property I purchased early 2020 I got valued recently and is now worth 52% more than what I paid. Thanks COVID!

  • +5

I know personally mine has gone up between 1.5 to 2 mill

    Cool story……

  • +12

Like everyone else here. Mine went up $5m-$10m.

    • +5

You must live in one of those undesirable suburbs…

  • +1

does it have to be PPOR? or can I pick the one with highest number? or do you mean combined?

  • +1

My property would be worth a lot if I was willing to sell it, but I’m not because living where we do is worth a lot to me, so it’s only value is not having to buy or rent somewhere else.

  • +1

Besides the obvious humble brag post.. (and seriously, why?), your poll would've been better as ordinal percentage increases from the purchase price at a high level…

  • +5

It appears that a lot of my neighbours are posting in this thread, waving to you all from across the harbour, see you at the yacht club tomorrow

    • +3

Don't forget your boating shoes this time Bob. Brian is bringing the Dom Perignon and it's your turn next week. Cheers

  • Priceless

  • +3

Suddenly, I feel like I need to take out a loan to buy a jacked up V8 American truck with blindingly bright headlights.
    Something, something … compensating.

  • Pass…

  • +2

Based on how many bells I've paid to Tom Nook should be 5 million+

  • +2

Feel like a loser seeing nearly 40% people have a property worth 5M+

    • +13

It's an ozbargain poll, not only that, it's one with stupid options. Its accuracy would be rated "very poor" at best. I chose the last option, it was a lie.

    • +8

The majority of those 5m+ answers were just FU'ing this poll, it's not the reality.

    • +4

Its a pointless poll that actively invites pointless stupid answers. I put 5M+.

    • +2

      Don't feel bad.

Technically mine was $4.9m but I always round up when calculating my wealth.

    • Feel like a loser seeing nearly 40% people have a property worth 5M+

We just like using "The Secret" of attraction. Even if you have $5 keep thinking you got $5m and it will come to you.

  • +7

60 … mines worth 60, at least that's what I bought this 2 acres for just shy of 2 yrs ago … it's an hour to a town with a Woolworths, it's extremely hot with 9 months without rain then 3 months of monsoons, it has a condemned power pole which I can't afford to replace right now, so have solar and batteries, but 60k$

  • +3

If are not selling to buy something cheaper and put the money to work elsewhere it doesn't really matter… you'd still be working… whoever inherits it will thank you hopefully

  • If only your mortgage payments went down as your property value increased. How come I still feel poor?

  • -2

My house was worth 25million two years ago just accepted an offer for cash for 42 million last night. I pity those who have not made at least ten million.

Even better cause I own the house next door and once finished renovation I will move into it.

  • Just the one property then……………..

  • +2

    Not much once I'm dead.

    • How does your death change the value of your property?
