  feels a bit like Groundhog Day around here !

  PS - I bought this camera from HN before Christmas at about this price, and I think it is a FANTASTIC entry level DSLR for a beginner such as myself. The photos are so much better than any point-and-shoot digital that I have ever used.

    A beginners dSLR camera without image stability…the body she is cheap, but the maintenance she may get you in the end

      To be honest, IS at 18-55mm isn't really needed unless you have really shakey hands or low light photography. And to be honest a beginner isn't really going to be getting new lenses until they fully see what the 18-55mm and a DSLR is going to get them.
      As for the body, it'll last the beginner to the point where they go "stuff it, too complicated and bothersome" and go back to a P&S or "I like this, I want something better now" and then get a higher model (or where the common sense is, a better lens and flash).

  my brother still have his analog canon 1100
  and the lens is still good.
  I think it's time for him to upgrade to the digital version - the 1100D

  $397 is nice price
