Pretty good offer! Some of those classic vibes are tasty

  • Some of those bass guitars look tasty. Nice one!

  • I would get this if I wanted to do a rock concert and smash the guitar at the end, for showmen ship :D

but yeah its a cheap and dirty guitar.

I have a squire and it's great for a beginner.

      • there not a bad by I will tell that that even going hard on these it works pretty well.

  • Get the Classic Vibe series, they play much better, found much more comfortable than even Fender Player series. Don't buy the Affinity or the Bullet.

  • i've been looking to get a bass for ages now.
total noob but i've done some research off and on. i'd like something with 5 strings and active pick-ups but concede probably nothing at this price point. cheapest bass of the lot seems to be this for $223.20 https://www.belfieldmusic.com.au/collections/fender-squier/p…

any bass players out there, do you recommend anything from this lineup?

  • Which one of these do I need to play metal/rock with? I was after something with a tremolo bar and humbucker pickups, someone in the other thread suggested an Ibanez Gio. Would any of these ones be similar? What about - https://www.belfieldmusic.com.au/collections/fender-squier/p… ?

    • A guitar with a humbucker in the bridge will be best for metal and rock. I'd probably agree that an Ibanez would fit the bill well, my feel is that the humbuckers on these squiers aren't all that hot

      • Thanks for that, I've been reading up ever since and it seems that the HSH Ibanez Gio seems to be the choice for metal!

My first guitar back in 1998 was an Ibanez gio and I still like playing it. The humbucker on my Les Paul definitely sounds fatter and meatier, but the Ibanez is still dang good

Yes, if you're playing Metal/Rock, you're going to need a guitar with at least 1 humbucker, preferably in the bridge position. The HH Strat you've provided a link to would be the ideal choice. Or, if you're after something with a little more versatility, a HSS Strat would also be Ok. Single coil pickups in the Neck and Middle position can provide brighter clean tones if that's also something you may need.

But a lot of Metal guitarists prefer a Humbucker pickup in the Neck position as well, for solos and warm clean tones. So, I believe the HH Strat would be the best option. Again, the one from the link would be a very good choice. Any of the first 3 guitars from this link would be a good option if you're after a Squier Strat guitar suitable for Metal/Rock…

If you're after an Ibanez GIO, you should also look for a HH or HSS guitar with a humbucker in the bridge position. Ibanez guitars usually use Humbucker pickups with a higher Ohms/DC resistance which can provide a higher output for more distortion.

      • Thanks for that, I think I'm quite close to pulling the trigger on the Ibanez Gio. I currently have an ESP LTD Strat, which I've realised now as I'm learning harmonics I also need a tremolo bar. Would the Gio be a good replacement for the LTD, tone wise if I'm mainly into metal, will I still be getting a chunky (or chunkier) tone with the Gio?

I've heard also that the Gio goes out of tune a bit with tremolo bar use - have you found this to be the case and if so what else could you recommend instead?

        • Yeah that GIO is a really good option. It's a HSH model so will have all the versatility you'll need. And the output of the Infinity pickups on that guitar will be hotter than a HH Strat or HSS Strat. And probably hotter than on your LTD.

Using the trem bar on most guitars can cause a bit of tuning instability, especially if you do big dive bombs. But the T102 trem on this guitar is a lot more stable than what you'll find on a generic brand guitar. Once the strings are stretched in, the tuning stability should be good.

          • @elichu296: Sounds good. If I was willing to spend a bit more, what other models (with a tremolo) would you recommend that would be a similar style but one step up from the HSH GIO?

            • @highon2str: The few you have already looked at would be suitable. What is your budget? I can try to provide you a link with some more options for you to choose. The choice would then be up to you. We have dozens of guitars that would be suitable and you can check the tech spec's of some of them to see which options/colours might be best for you.

              • @elichu296: Say under $1000? I think I'm happy with the GIO RG170DX but I'm not sure if it's worth spending a bit more in order to "future-proof" my future purchases? I'm still only a beginner - been practising for just over a year now. I feel the GIO will probably grow with me for quite a few years to come but I'm still keen to know what other guitars might be worth looking at.

  • Bought yamaha pacifica212 for $500+
Shouldve wait for classic vibe.. which series you reckon? 50s, 60s, 70s…

    • Personal favourite is the 50s range, it is also our best seller by far.

  • Thanks. Snagged one in time!
