Pokemon Diamond/Pearl Remake

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl- who's buying, opinions, waiting for the platinum remake, skipping it.

I had a big gap in Pokemon games, with the most recent I played being US/UM, let's go (haha) and sword/shield. I never got to play diamond/pearl properly. I emulated it (parents wouldn't get me a DS back then :( ) but never really got the proper experience, so I think I'll pick this one up.

Thoughts?

In b4 xbox is better, when ps5 in stock, haha pokemans

I would play the Diamond remake for sure if I had a Switch. I thought the original was fantastic

Good chance plenty of lightly used consoles will come up as people make the sideways upgrade to the OLED, as well as people losing interest after the surge in sales through covid. For games like mario kart, zelda, pokemon, definitely worth considering, especially if you play with friends (in person)

Tentative. I buy every Pokemon generation due to nostalgia growing up with it, but never get very far as realise how incredibly boring they actually are after a few hours. Always wanted to 'catch 'em all' but just never have.

May get Diamond for long plane rides when going abroad but not for playing at home.

    • I will buy all the Switch mainline Pokemon games later on but don't know if I'll ever get around to playing them.

I own all the DS and 3DS games but haven't played any of them since X/Y.

      • Pretty much same here. Get the urge to play the new titles, buy every 3DS and Switch one (except Let's Go), get to about 2nd or 3rd gym then realise I'm bored and move on. Sits on shelf and never played again… Next one gets announced, rinse/repeat…

    • Half me too. I play through them, but struggle to get much further. I never got to experience diamond/pearl properly though, so I'm hoping it'll be fun and new.

I much preferred sword/shield over sun/moon though (which was my first mainline game since…yellow special pikachu edition lol)

      • Sun/Moon tried to update how they play so it's not the same old game with different Pokemon. I feel they failed miserably. Sword/Shield was a big change that worked well as they were able to bring a (limited) multi-player experience to change it up as well as the open field areas.

Diamond was my first, and it looks like they're adapting the old games to some of the newer styles, so I think it will go well.

So the main question now is do I choose Diamond or Pearl?

        • I've always had the alternate so I think this time I'll be a normie and go Diamond

The games really need 1x,2x,5x,and 10x speed controls

Every new pair of games that comes are kinda the same with a few coats of paint.

Still, they will sell millions, users seems to be used to getting the same.
