Year on year, this Solera vat is never emptied but is always kept at least half full creating a deliciously harmonious and intense whisky which gets more complex and intriguing every year.

WA Postage is $9.99 - Next cheapest I can quickly find is Dan Murphys at $92.99…

  • Bought duty free for $40 a couple of weeks ago. Australian alcohol taxes frustrate me a lot.

    • are you sure it was this and not a litre of the 12 y/o you bought for 40 bucks?

So point us to where it is cheaper……..

duty free :) same price, not accessible to everyone, but still its the same..

        • Scotch is likely cheaper in Scotland. Quick post it on ozbargain - i mean its not accessible to some, but still the same…

        • +1

actually scotch in Scotland/UK is more expensive, I suspect it's the tax…France on the other hand…..

        • Yeah just factor in the international plane ticket and you've got yourself a real bargain!

    • isn't that the point of OzBargain? Its discounted & cheaper then elsewhere!
      (except dutyfree of course)

great deal…. rubbish website??? how do i find out the shipping cost without going through the motions of putting all my contact details in… i want to put a postcode in to understand the cost… 3141

edit: $8.49…. good deal but still hate your site :D

    • Postage calculator is in the cart… but we'll look at putting it on each product page.

  • Cheapest I can find… I think that makes it a bargain… Unless you're in duty free or Scotland.

    Not bad

these guys via ebay are $85 +$9.50 postage in Oz.

So I suppose it depends on postage.

Hey Surplus Wine, a tip for your site, have a postage calculator without having t sign up.
I generally don't deal with sites whom don't disclose shipping rates without having signing up.
    (it's really annoying).

    • Hi Supabrudda - there's a postage calculator in the cart. No need to enter anything except your State and postcode…

We'll look into getting that on each product page.

IMO exact shipping costs should be in the title, if it varies put in the range. It is impossible to tell if it is a bargin without the shipping costs.

I would want a big discount for something so far past it's used by date.

  • Ok, so THIS vs the 16 yr old Lagavulin. Which is the better one for a gift? Considering this is ~$9 more (shipping).

People who drink! Help me out! Its for a mate that drinks.

    • Definitely go the Lagavulin, particularly if your mate likes a peaty, smoky Islay scotch. It is my favourite at the moment, and I drink far too much scotch.

    • Actually, this one is more mild tasting than the Lagavulin. So if your mate doesn't drink a lot of strong tasting whiskey, or usually drinks blended whiskey, then go for this one.

      • Thanks guys, I will ask him what he drinks at the moment and decide! Cheers

  • Would this taste better if it was left for a few more years, or best drunk now?

Scotch does not really age in te bottle… Only in the cask!
It's nice to see a few scotch deals popping up. Though based On the comments I think there is a definite need for a good deal on a scotch appreciation course. (not that I claim to me an expert )

What dr_rusko said. The taste wont really change. But after many years, the cork might disintegrate when you open it and your whiskey will get funky (has happened to me before).

      • Thanks dr and sama…

This goes well with my $199 netbook.
