It's my first post and I'm learning

The Theragun Pro G4 looks like it's being price matched at Amazon for JB Hi-Fi. I was originally going to get some cashback with JB gift cards but Amazon looked like it might have a better rate of return (wasn't sure on the category so I could be wrong).

Also comes with some attachments

The 3 camels say that it's the lowest price they've ever recorded so I decided to get one instead of holding out for the Black Friday deals and to hopefully scare off some of those other massage gun deals I always see getting posted by associated accounts

  • Are these branded ones significantly better (to the tune of 10x the price) of the off brand ones from eBay / Amazon etc.

    • have the homedics one and was very underwhelmed by it… saw the theragun on display at rebel and tested it definitely much better and plan to get it myself when its on sale like now.

    • Yes.
Hard to believe? Yes. Until you own both the cheap and this and you regret wasting money on the cheap ones.

Ok tbh i wish these guy sell at $3-400 not 600… but when you buy 100ish that is same as throw your money into drawer collectng dust.

Interesting…I bought one for about 80 bucks and it gets used once every few weeks, admittedly the probes / attachments don't seem as flash as the Theragun ones but I find with most muscle pain they do the trick and get rid of the ailment.

      • Theragun prime is at $419 right now. Half the stall force but better than the useless cheap ones.

    • I personally haven't tried any of the cheap ones that are offered but when I went to the physio after hurting my back at the plastics factory this is what they used. It significantly helped alleviate the pain and that's why I've been waiting out for a good price (as I think this is)

I think the design makes it quite easy to use on yourself but having someone else to do it is always the best

Keep in mind these are not necessarily meant to be used for muscles that are injured (at least by untrained non-professionals) as it's like hammering the muscle a bunch of times. On healthy muscle that's sore from being overworked though it helps to realign the muscle fibres and get it feeling good again.

The benefit of these specific ones (being the top dawgs) I think is meant to be their hits/second and the amount of force they can apply. Other cheaper brands can stall when you press too hard.

If this one is too expensive Theragun's other offerings also appear to be on special so you could check them out (though their savings aren't as significant)

I have the G3. For all the whinging about the noise, it's not that bad. Shut the door to the room you're in. Realistically, that's enough.

    • +1

The g3 is noisy but it's powerful

      • Is your battery indicator BS? Mine stops with two leds still on. Been like that since new

I cant believe something with a DC motor and a couple of plastic heads cost $800, the margins they're making off this. I havent tried the sub $100 to $200 ones but, surely some mid range priced ones are equivalent in quality and performance?

  • Anyone with some first hand experience on this vs Hydragun (not a cheap no name knockoff).

One paper, some aspects actually seem better than theragun.

    • I just watched a bunch of reviews of Theragun v Hypervolt. They basically all conclude that the theragun is better (depth and also the features e.g carry case etc), but the different wasn’t crazy. So if you can afford it then they recommended the theragun.

      • Hypervolt is different again. Im talking specifically about Hydragun

        • Sorry. Googled hydragun and couldn’t see anything!

  • I have a Theragun G3 and have opted to buy another (same as what I had prior to the G3) Evieun on Amazon for $79.

The performance is similar on each but the Evieun is significantly quieter and battery lasts much longer. It has a brushless motor.

    Also the G3 stalls easier.

Not the very best price($599) but it is a good deal.

  • Thanks OP. Purchased one (from JB, but still)

how it compares to brand like RENPHO

    • +2

I originally bought a Renpho from Amazon and replaced it with the Pro G4. Renpho only massages the surface where as the Pro G4 can get deep into the muscle and you will feel it the next day (if you want).

I would compare the Renpho to a backrub and the Pro G4 to a deep tissue massage. There is a use case for both, but don't mistake them for providing the same experience.

  • offer is over

  • looks like its gone…

  • Just make your own with a jigsaw.
Double the use for a machine.

No stalling, no matter how 'deep' you go.

I made one with an ozito and bought the attachments but it was too damn loud especially if you use it on your shoulders - you'd need to use ear plug or you'll be definiately damaging your eardrums.

But as I've mentioned in the past, I find the use of a foam roller and especially the lacrosse ball does a much better job. With a lacrosse ball, I can get right deep into the muscle (using your body weight) and holding it for say 30 seconds - you can't get that with a massage gun - a massage gun is more like "hammering".

With these massage guns, I guess it's more the conveinent factor, but if you have a spare 15 minutes in a day, foam roller/lacrosse ball is WAY better.

      • Good point on the loudness
