    Really underrated complete..

    Mateskates would have been better.

  • Any suggestions as to a good first skateboard for a 6 and 9yr old…?

    • This one wouldn't be a bad choice. I'd ask if they had a particular brand in mind and just get them exactly what they want.

      • +5

I don’t think many 6 or 9 year olds would know what they want. All I know is I regret buying my 7 year old a Kmart one and would love something that actually works. Isn’t this one a tad big for pre-teens?

        • +1

Depends what kind of skating you want to do, plenty of elementary school kids longboard.
Would definetly suggest a smaller deck for street/tricks, but for rolling around I can't imagine it would matter.

          • +1

@flopsy: Pretty harsh rolling around on a street board tbh. I would say for that something more like a cruiser is best

            • @boydbino: That's for sure, this deal especially (52mm 99a wheels). Just saying size isn't a damning factor for small peolpe, like it would be with a bike or similar.

          • +2

@flopsy: Just get them on a quality board if that's what they're passionate about, they'll figure the rest out as they go

I had a similar situation when I was a kid. I was younger I wanted a Blind deck with KR3W trucks. My parents bought me a Mongoose skateboard from target. I felt really bad because I really didn't want it but at the same time had to put on a show to pretend I really liked it. Looking back on it I was lucky to have parents that would buy me what I wanted in the first place.

          • @quinine: Thanks for all the comments! Still not clear if I should buy this one for my 7 year old who wants a decent skateboard to learn some tricks and muck around in the park. Would a 7" board be better?

            • +5

@bozbargain: I recently got this board for me (late 30s) and I got my 5 year old a 7.25 enjoi complete after watching a lot of Olympic skateboarding together. We have been learning to skate together and are progressing well with practice a few times each week. It's been a great lockdown activity. Lots of great progression step by step instructional videos on YouTube

            • +1

@bozbargain: The 7.75 should be a good size for both at that age, by the time they needed something a little bigger this one would be well loved hopefully. As others have said the wheels won't be great for street skating but would be perfect for a skate park/other smooth surfaces.

Pretty much every brand uses the same construction. It's more about what kind of design they want and the shape and size.

    • +2

I would recommend 7-8" for 6-9-year-olds. This 8.125" is just a bit too wide and is better for adults or 13+

  • Got one. Thanks!

  • Also got one. Literally was looking at getting one for young fella, didn’t wanna spend heaps in case he wasn’t into it, but this was too good to pass up.

  • +2

just a word for those wanting to cruise, this is not for you. Really small wheels and long board. Otherwise great price for a complete

  • I am also looking for a first stake board for a 7 year old girl. Not sure what to get. Any recommendation?

    • Noting I haven't actually taught kids how to skate, anything after the cheap toy boards you see should be fine for learning to ride.
Have you looked at "mini-cruisers"? They're more like a longboard, not much good for tricks or vert ramps, but better to ride around and much easier to balance with.

      • Don't know anything about skateboard. Sure let me have a look at "mini-cruisers"

  • That was quick

    Why did I buy this

    • +1

      Steez Master.

    • +1

Because you live your life a quarter mile at a time?

      • +4

Some might say a quarter pipe at a time

        • Urghh, take my upvote!

  • Is this better than a Vision Street Wear skateboard?

  • +1

Black - This item is currently not available

  • This or a cruiser? I'm thinking cruiser to start off.

    • This is more for tricks. Cruiser for cruising

  • Paid $100 for a Vision Psycho Stick deck back in 1987
