  • Not a bad deal at all, actually. I was a bit dubious, knowing what the Aerobies go for on ebay (~$50); but the mini grinders fetch $60+ on their own, so for a travel pack (if you really need a grinder too) this is probably well worth it! :)

  • Not bad, and the aeropress is a great little coffee maker, if I didn't already have a set I'd probably pick up this one.

  • +2

Aeropress is $25 delivered from Amazon at the moment, and the Porlex goes for $60 on Ebay, which leaves 5 + 6.90 dollars for freshly roasted fresh coffee, which isn't a bad price for nice coffee.

Nice work for an Aussie seller to match the overseas retailers in the products' countries of origin!

  • Damn, I'd buy this if only I drank coffee! I know the Aerobie is a nice coffee maker.

  • what's the volume like on the grinder? I bought the sunbeam stick burr grinder from the bigw online sale, to go with the aeropress I have had for years, and the grinder was just too loud for my office :(

edit: just noticed this grinder is a hand grinder, so volume shouldn't be an issue

Just be prepared to answer your workmates' puzzled questions about just what the aerpress is. Some people have made all sorts of awkward comparisons where I work…. :O

    • I've never used Porlex grinder, but I did use to use a similar hand grinder. If you think hand pwoered means it will be suitable volumewise for office, I think you're in for a rude shock. A lot of the noise comes from the actual grinding of coffee beans, not the electric motor. And, compared to an electric one, it takes much longer…

So, won't be quite as loud as an electric but the noise will go on for much longer. If you try grinding at your desk, will probably get some annoyed co-workers. And, if you hold the grinder between your legs for a better grip, might get some more awkward comparisons as your hand moves furiously above your crotch in an attempt to grind faster - just before you reach your pump… er… I mean press.
