Another year, another Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle – but this time, it’s for a fantastic price. We’re told Kmart will have the console, a code for Mario Kart and three months of Nintendo Switch Online for just $369. That’s $100 less than an RRP of a Switch all by itself.

Should upgrade to oled deal this year.

  • +12

If this was the same bundle but with oled model, that would be an instabuy for me

    • +1

Might be enough to pull the trigger maybe

    • +19

I think that would be an insta buy for a lot of people. No chance the OLED will be that cheap

  • Looks like Amazon will drop the same deal soon.

    • IF they price slash SP/BD while they're at it, would be dope.

  • +1

Nice! Lowest it's been since last Black Friday and cheaper than most standalone Switch deals.

    • +1

Lowest should be $349 since last Black Friday

  • +22

If you mainly play connected to a TV. Oled model is pointless for the extra cost.

    • +1

Could say the same if you have a half decent pc/laptop and the right 'software'.

      • I feel like the main selling point of the switch are the multiplayer games with joycon support which you can’t really achieve on a pc

        • +1

You can get joycons working on cemu, yuzu with BetterJoy.

      • Heh, at least the parts you get in your PC of choice get updated for the same price year by year.

But the switch is the exact same specs, excluding the battery since 2017! XD

    • Does that mean if I don't have a TV, OLED model is better?

      • +1

No it just means you get to play the switch on a small screen.

    • why do you say that?

      • +18

        He's in pain…

        • +2

          And is a toad.

      • -1

If you have to ask why it shouldn’t be this much any more, you are the reason Nintendo can keep getting away with charging such a insane amount for a device with the same internals as the 2014 Nvidia Android tablet. The tech is 7 years old ffs.

There’s a reason why more and more games are being streamed because it can no longer run many third party games.

Even the garbage remake of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl can’t run at 60fps.

        The thing is a relic.

        • Is it surprising though, Nintendo games are exclusive and a standard PS4 is more expensive now than when I bought my 1st one a year after launch. They have a unique console, sure it sucks they basically never have sales on them or basic bundles but they know people will buy it to play their games.

    • +2

Still charging this much for something that can barely play last gen games let alone this gen is bad enough, the price of the OLED model is daylight robbery.

    • +2

It hosts a standard of games that are exclusive to it, I really don't see this price being too bad considering the amount of hours that a family can put into it.

Console manufacturers enter the market at a slight loss or break even, then they can make there money on the consoles over the years as the costs are lowered but price remains.

Console manufacturers enter the market at a slight loss or break even, then they can make there money on the consoles over the years

Wrong. Nintendo realised they can make underpowered devices and people will still buy them. They’ve made a profit since launch.

        https://www.vg247.com/the-switch-will-sell-at-a-profit-from-…

It’s true for other console manufacturers, that actually care about advancing the industry, however and not just milking their fans’ love of their exclusive IP.

        • -1

You're paying for the Nintendo ecosystem, like when you buy into the Apple ecosystem.

It's easy to see the value of a console, all things being equal in hardware compared to PC, by stripping away the exclusives and seeing what is left to offer.

          • +1

@Blitzfx: By exclusives, you mean ported Wii U ports. Yeah nah I’ll stick with my modded Wii U.

        • Ahahaha "other console manufacturers, that actually care about advancing the industry". So, for you, advancing the industry means increasing the power of the CPU/GPU, that's innovation… you're funny!

  • +2

Plus mario kart this is a very good buy

  • -4

I paid $379 wand then $69 in the July toy sale. I haven’t picked it up yet.
I should probably wait and try get this deal and return it.

    • Was your store closed during the lockdowns?

      • +1

No I did an online Christmas layby.

  • Is this an online or offline sale?

  • Thought Kmart got out of gaming??

    • Kmart also got out of doing 'sales' for few years.. everyday low prices was their thing.. things change I guess.

    • +3

So did DJ, but Nintendo was like hold my Switch https://www.davidjones.com/brand/nintendo

      • +1

Looks like they said hold my price too…

  • +3

    A year and same price… come on….

    • +1

Indeed. Especially for such dated hardware. I don't know why I hold onto mine.

      • +1

Nintendo watching thier pokemon remakes that came out only a day ago filling their Money pit is why

    • +1

Don’t question it. Nintendo fanboys will get ya.

    • +2

Makes buying into the system at about $300, 3 years ago worth it

When the first good Nintendo deal comes around, just buy it and enjoy it for years rather than waiting for a price drop, you never know when the drop will actually come.

  • Can we hack this version? Or install some kind of homebrew?

    • Not with these days.

    • No. Only works on very old models of the Switch.

    • With hardmod, yes

  • Is this online only or also in store? Thanks.

    • It’s online and in store. Stores will receive on average about 9 switches per store and 3-4 of those are set aside for online purchases.

      • Can you turn on your PMs please? Would like to ask something… Thanks :)

        • PM’s are on now.

      • When a store has an online purchase allocation, does that mean they are set aside as online click and collect? Or can that store sell their online units to anyone in the country?

        Cheers

        • Online allocation is for both click and collet and home delivery but stores only do home delivery within their own states with the exception of WA which also ships orders to NSW currently.

          • @JAF: Thanks for the reply mate. Will try to get to my local store on Thursday. Just confirming that WA stores will start online sales at 8 am WA time?

            • +2

@Hamish125: It has now changed again unfortunately mate. It is now a flat 8am AEDT start for all stores online so it will now be 5am in wa when it goes online. Your best bet to secure one in to line up at your local Kmart around 7:50am Thursday and then once doors are open head straight to the service desk!

      • Thank you for letting us know. I'm curious those 24 hours store, will they start to sell early after midnight?

  • -1

    following…

    • +1

      Following what exactly?

  • -6

Oled for $299, and I will call it a deal

    • +3

why not ask for $199 while you're at it?

    • +2

      $299 for a ps5, and a complimentary handy!

    • Hey cool story…

  • Pay with shopback gift card 2% cashback

  • Good deal, i'm pulling the trigger on this one

  • +5

Hi everyone if you have any questions about this product or Black Friday in general please feel free to ask me. Please note for this year stores are only receiving roughly 9 switches per store (3-4 are kept for online customers so only 5-6 will be physically available to purchase) so if you’d like to secure one be in very early.

    • Online means click-and-collect for a specific store? Will online sale also open at 7am or is it the night before?

      • They’ve changed it a few times but currently online sales start at 8am in each Timezone for online Black Friday on the respective Black Friday days, so west oz starts at 8am AWST and melb and stuff start at 8am AEDT.

        • I see. Then I'll try my luck in store first.

          Thanks!

    • Any deals on switch games that you can share with us?

      • +1

No switch games at all this year unfortunately.

        • No worries, thanks for the reply.

    • Are there any deals on Switch lites?

      • Nope unfortunately, only the normal non Oled switch.

        • Thanks ):

    • Any other Black Friday deals worth mentioning?

    • I'm a bit of a Black Friday and Switch newbie but am going to try to get this deal. No idea what the demand will be - queues before 8am or what. I think I'll scope out the store today so I know exactly where to go.

I couldn't see the deal online yet at https://www.kmart.com.au/category/black-friday/black-friday-….

According to the Timeline deals should be visible now…?

      • +1

Deal won't be online yet until late Wednesday afternoon/evening as stock has yet to arrive to stores yet unfortunately. Then it will go on sale at 8am sharp AEDT so be in quick! The demand will be very high especially with each store only having low stock amounts, best of luck!

        • The item is up on kmart black friday page but price showing $439. Hope this will be updated tomorrow

    • Does this include South Australian Kmart stores? I haven't seen them stock video games, consoles or DVDs/Blu-rays in years.

    • The Kmart website is showing $439 for tomorrow. Is it on sale further?

      https://www.kmart.com.au/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDi…

      • It will $369 tomorrow morning, website pricing doesn’t update until the actual product goes on sale at 8am AEDT.

        • -1

          Well that was BS

          • @swhitmore: User spent their own time trying to help people with a deal. The information was correct as far as they knew. $409 with Mario Kart 8 is likely about as good as you are going to get.

    • If I buy click and collect, is that properly reserved or might it be sold to someone else before some staff member has gotten around to grab it for the click and collect?

I've had bad experiences in other stores.

    • @JAF, thanks for answering everyone's questions and posting the information that was correct as far as you knew at the time. As someone who lined up at the store at 7:50 and went straight to the customer service desk, as per your advice, I got the second of only 3 available at that store. I got a deal on a device that I was buying for my young kids this year for Christmas regardless.

I hope any hate was not addressed to you personally.

      • -1

Yep same…… my store only had three too…..so only cost me $1107 total for all three!

  • Amazon like to match you would think?

Then it comes down to if Shopback or CR are likely to offer cashback on gaming category

    Anyone got the inside word

    • I assumed they would have their own bundle sale, hopefully an even better one. I guess we'll see. Do Amazon usually announce black Friday deals in advance?

    • I still got some Amazon credit need to spend, hope they match the same deal as BigW

  • +1

Was just in BigW yesterday looking at a switch and they had a delivery of this bundle. It was listed as $469 but not for sale until the 27th so I guess they will be doing the same price as Kmart for these.

    • +1

$409 in BigW release the 26th.

  • Is there any evidence that Amazon will match this?

Hope so. My little one doesnt need OLED and this sounds perfect!

Not really looking forward to battling 1000's of people for scraps on Kmart.

    • +1

Amazon will most likely sell the same bundle, but no idea on the price.

Big W also has the same bundle but for $409

  • Is it OLED model anyone know?

    • Just a standard Nintendo Switch.

  • +1

Is this legit. As I’m pretty sure last years price was $469 and that’s what Big W is doing it for.
