Tempering Valve Plumbing Job Estimate Cost

Hey guys,

Recently been having trouble getting hot water in the shower and after checking with strata, there’s nothing wrong with the hot water system in the building.

The building manager suggested it’s probably the tempering valve needs to be looked at, potentially replaced if needs to be.

I was hoping to see the rough estimate of the cost. I don’t own the place, so owners pay for it but I want to make sure she doesn’t get jipped. :)

Building manager isn't a plumber and doesn't know what he's talking about. Get a plumber to diagnose the problem.

Except that maybe, just maybe, another tenant had a similar problem that did turn out to be the tempering valve at fault?

    • Yeh I think people in the building had similar issues

      • Ask them what the cost was and who they got to do the job. Also ask them if they were happy with the work or not.

    Part $80
    Call out fee $120
10 minutes of plumbers time $50

    $250

    • Thank you sir/madam

They usually charge a minimum of 30 minutes work time. Then after than it's in 15 increments. The cost can vary, but the 30 minutes will be arround the $80 mark and each subsequent 15 minutes could be between $50 and $75. Bigger jobs are cheaper by the hour as the plumber is at the one place for a longer period.

Got mine done recently, MS Paint is right with the estimates.
    Mine was $286 all up.

    • Thanks heaps

    • MS paint missed GST, so it’s $275. Even closer.
