I'm no pro at this, but should maybe have motorised in the title. $500 for a desk is not a deal no matter how 'ergonomic' it is.

    • in fairness it does seem to be cheaper than the omnidesk without adding any add ons

  • +3

    10 year manufacturer warranty!
    nice

    • +1

Can recommend this desk as well as the seller.

I’ve had this desk for over a year and love it. The quality of the legs and mechanism is solid. The table top is also really nice - I liked the texture and it’s very hard wearing. The shape also makes it less boring. I did eventually swapped the top for a solid timber piece because why not. It was 2.1m and heavy but the legs handled it without a sweat. Only complaint is if you unplug it, it loses all the memory settings.

As for the seller, was really impressed. Item shipped quickly (NSW to VIC). The desktop arrived damaged (likely from shipping) but the seller replaced quickly without hassle.

      Overall a very positive experience.

  • Could you fit a 34' on the monitor arm? Single of a single screen setup with a macbook air

    • +3

I fit xiaomi 34 on it. No problem.

      • How you finding the quality?
        Cheers.

        • Bought one last month. It's pretty good and sturdy

  • +3

Looks like your run of the mill jiecang desk

    • +1

This guy strongly supported getting a Linak but everywhere I looked, it would cost just about double ($1k) and I just couldn't go for it.

      • +7

Yeah i went through this excersise. $880 for frame + $65 delivery + Desktop around $200. Warranty is approx 5 years.

Buying two of these desks could also work, 10 years warranty. If only it was straight edge without the cable management hole being on the right side.

      • +4

Couldn't stand getting jiecang. That's when I'd found Ikea Idasen https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/idasen-desk-sit-stand-black-dar…
        $799 + delivery
Linak motor. 10 year Ikea guarantee - fine print says "covers defects in materials, workmanship and function on all main parts"
My first motorised desk so can't compare and comment - but I find it to be worth it's price

        • Thanks for that, very comprehensive. Seems like the cheapest is ergomotion although not by much at $900 incl shipping to Syd. Might be justifiable if they gave a larger table (1.8m) but it seems 1.5m is the only size they have.

          • +5

@ChillBro: Get Ikea Idasen leg ($650) without the default table top, go facebook market place and get yourself a cheap or free table top off someone, slap it on the idasen leg. You got yourself a Linak sit stand table. If you want cherry on top, go to https://activdesk.com.au/store/Control-Switches-&-Software-c… and get yourself a DPG1C controller and replace the original basic controller.

Now you got yourself a Linak sit stand table with 10 year warranty from Ikea. You can only claim warranty when the shop you bought from is still in business. I put my bet on Ikea over those small business.

            • +1

@panadol520: The man himself! Huge thanks for that and for enlightening us all on the Linak sit stand systems. I'm not a DIY person by any means but was seriously just considering this option! However, the Ikea Idasen leg doesn't seem like it can support 1.8m tabletops?

This underframe is extendable, so you can use it with the following sizes of IDÅSEN tabletop: 120x70 cm and 160x80 cm.

              • +4

@ChillBro: If you really want to go with 180cm wide top. The Idasen from Ikea is doable, although may not be ideal. Check out the below video where a guy slap on a solid 180cm x 90cm butcher block on.
                https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bOWNlSm2550

If you want to get everything from Ikea and want a 180cm wide top, I would go for a Karlby bench top. My personal choice is the Walnut colour. A solid wood top experience without the weight and maintenance for solid wood.
                https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/karlby-worktop-oak-veneer-50335…

                • @panadol520: Thanks for those links! After watching your video and this one, I'm probably going to stick with a 160cm instead! Do you know if the default IKEA Idasen frame gives you presets? Or is that only with the App? Happy to buy the additional controller you suggested but I'm not sure what it brings to the table (ha)

                  • +1

@ChillBro: The controller from Ikea don't give you any preset, however you are able to link the controller to Linak mobile app and control it through bluetooth. You may be able to preset height in the app with the Ikea controller.

The controller I recommend has OLED display the height, and you are able to preset 4 favourite height. When you link the controller with the Linak app, you can enable the auto lift function where you can double tap the controller and it will automatically goes to your preset height.

                • @panadol520: Where to get 180x 90 table top? IKEA one is 180x68

            • @panadol520: Can the legs be expanded to accommodate 180cm? Or will there be further overhang on the sides?

              • @Daves88: Unfortunately no. The Ikea Idasen leg only extend up to 146cm wide, so you will have approx. 17cm overhang on each sides. Check out the youtube video I posted above. The guy in the video had put a 72" wide top (182cm) on the Idasen leg. Check it out and see if you can accept it.

                • @panadol520: Tagging along this thread to ask you a question as you seem very knowledgeable.
Do you think the IDASEN will support 3 monitors? It has a weight capacity of 70kg vs 120kg in the one the OP posted. 70kg seems like plenty, but given the weight of a tabletop, plus 3 monitors and pressure from typing, wondering if it will still feel sturdy when lifted.

                  • +2

@A2: Assuming you are using 24-27" three monitor setup. Each monitor average around 5-6kg, table top weight is dependant on material, default Idasen table top uses paper core which is very light weight and should be under 5kg. Total permeant weight is around 20-25kg, which is only 30% of it's lifting capacity.

So in simple term Yes, the Ikea Idasen is more than capable of lifting your required items on the table.

Here is a layman term to explain the lifting capacity of every sit stand motor. The closer your items get close to the max capacity, the harder the motor works, and the more frequent the motor work hard, the earlier it may break. Also, the closer you reach the max capacity, the slower the table will lift up and down, it may take few more seconds to lift the table when you reach close to the max weight capacity.

The stability is a whole different story and lifting capacity has nothing to do with stability. You can't bend the law of physic unfortunately, so the heavier your items, the more instability you will get, especially at standing height due to the law of physic. However the Ikea Idasen is surprisingly stable at a standing height due to it's leg design. I'm confident to say nothing on the Aussie market with similar price range can beat the stability of Ikea Idasen.

You will have a piece of mind if buying from Ikea as you are covered by the 365days no non-sense return policy. Don't like it after trying? Just return it for full refund at Ikea, simple.

I hope this help you decide which table to get. Personally I would go for Ikea Idasen for unbeatable quality and warranty.

                    • @panadol520: Wow, thanks for the reply. Really appreciate your feedback and the explanation. You've convinced me: Idasen it is, but looking to DIY the top.

                      • +1

@A2: While Guy from Ergomotion probably wont cover the same kind of "no nonsense" he is quite a good fellow and if your request is reasonable it is useful to consider.

The LINAK DF2 can be bought from Guy without the table top, costing approx $595 comes with the standard controller (bluetooth module +$75), which means you can put that $125 toward the DIY top. I was quoted $400 for a hardwood top with my dimensions 1400m x 800mm so materials are probably going to cost you $150~ at least.

          • @ChillBro: Just an FYI, I bought from ergomotion and hes a great guy, excellent service. However if you try to go for like-for-like versus the IKEA Idasen, in my opinion unless the size is an issue the IKEA one has slightly "better value".

It appears the Idasen comes with the LINAK bluetooth module (it being advertised with the picture with an app), where as the standard LINAK DF2 sold by ergomotion comes standard with the non-bluetooth variant. The one like in the IDASEN costs an additional $75.

            TLDR:
Ergomotion solution will roughly cost the same is IKEA Idasen, except you can save a bit if you dont want the "smart controller". Ergomotion only offer 3 year warranty where as Ikea is 10 year.

Pick Ergomotion if the size is right for you and you want to save $100 by not getting the "smarter" controller, otherwise buy the Idasen

just wanna chip in as well, got the linak kick and click, put a 2100x600 top from bunnings on it, its been holding everything, including 2 ultrawides, 2 towers and what not…. moves really well, probably worth the price if you're willing to spend that money

        • Awesome mate, where did you purchase the frame from?

  • +1

Has anyone got this desk already? Do you recommend it?

    • Want to know as well

    • +1

I have the frame, it's very sturdy and easy to put together. I didn't buy it with the top as some comments in previous threads say that it is rather plastic-like compared to traditional melamine.

      • Where did you end up getting your desk top from?

        • +1

I got this one from Value Office Furniture. Total came to $177 delivered to metro Melbourne. Very happy with the top, it feels really solid and looks nice imo.

    • Boughted one during last deal
      Would recommend it

    • I will recommend it. Bought one last month 1800mm. Good quality and sturdy.

      • Anyone have actually pics? Or video of how loud the motors are going up and down?

Is the table top decent? Or should we purchase seperately?

        Any cable management?

        • +3

Bought it in the last deal. 1600mm top. Here you go: video with sound, image

          • @Predit: Legend, hows the touch panel? Decent quality too? Am i hearing a clicking sound when you touch the pad or is that the motor?

          • @Predit: Does yours have a wobble/chugging noise when it goes down? I got mine today and it goes up fine but the down motion sounds like a train. Also I can't hold the up/down button continuously without the desk stopping for 1-2 seconds inbetween, is this normal?

    • I also bought the 1800 mm during the last sale. Would recommend. Motors are quiet. I bought it with the top, yeah its plastic, but still looks and feels nice in my opinion

      • I'm gonna cover half of the 1600mm one I ordered with a mousepad anyway lol

Besides despite being cheap MFC at 18mm thick this one has rounded edges based on the photo and I can't find any table tops / desk tops for cheap that aren't rectangles with sharp corners and PVC edging that'll eventually pop out.

      • Hi, Just for your reference. The destop is manufactured from vacuum formed particle board with laminated surface instead of plastic. It similar to kitchen cabinet material.

  • I bought this Friday - It was shipped today. It still says pre-order for dispatch mid December so not sure if that's an error.

    • When they deliver how much do they help in terms of bringing it to your room/apartment? I live in an apartment and would appreciate if they could wheel it from ground to my apartment (using elevator)

      • +1

Hasn't arrived yet it's shipped with border express. I live in a house though so won't know.

        • Cheers. Im taking the gamble and ordered anyway. Maybe a lot of solo pivoting side to side

I picked this 1500mm electric desk from Officeworks a few weeks ago. Very happy with it. $429
    https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/matrix-exe…

  • +4

are there any electric desks that start from 600mm height? I found 700mm + is a little high for my liking.

    • +1

      It's a sit/stand desk, not a sit/squat desk :p

Doing the limbo is not an official use of the desk.

      • +2

the problem is i have short legs annd i dont like using foot rests. hence i am looking for 60cm high desks

        • I think this one goes to about 645mm according to the specs. I just tested and that must be not including the top thickness, I found the minimum on this is 670mm. Keep in mind other issues also come into play by having it low - arm rests and sets of drawers for example.

      • Believe it or not there is a market for floor sitting desks https://www.uppealdesign.com/

    • I think only Linak unit is able to get to around 600mm height (depending on table thickness).

      Check this out https://www.ikea.com/au/en/p/idasen-underframe-sit-stand-f-t…

Average table top thickness is 150mm-250mm. So you will have around 605mm-615mm minimum height for Linak unit.

  • Got the 180cm one. Hope its good. Thanks OP

  • seeing as the top is plastic, is it safe to use a monitor arm on it?

    • +1

Hi, Just for your reference. The desktop is manufactured from vacuum formed particle board with laminated surface instead of plastic. It similar to kitchen cabinet material. The support will definately holds multiple screens.

      • Thank you! Do you think I could drill another hole to install a grommet on the other side of the desk?

  • +1

says desk measures Desk measures 1600x750x18mm in white finish
but there is a cutout so what is the actual depth at the cutout?
i dont like the cutout, edge should be straight

    • +1

      65cm
Edit: table top dimensions are in the last image on product page.

  • +1

If anyone could post pics or videos of the desk that would he great.

    • +1

Bought it in the last deal with 1600mm top. Here you go: video with sound, image

      • +1

        Cheers mate

How are you finding the finish of the table top?

Would you have preferred a straight edge or is the ergo curve helpful?

        • +1

          No worries

I use a large mouse pad so the finish doesnt really bother me as I never have to touch it during everyday use. Even without the pad, its not too bad but some people will definitely not like it.

I would have preferred a straight edge for sure but with such a large table top (atleast for my usage) it has made no difference for me.

  • I ordered one from Elevate Ergonomics and the courier company lost it - both have stopped replying to me and im now trying to do a chargeback. Do I order a replacement now or see what happens! decisions decisions!

  • For anyone who owns this standing desk, does the preset height button requires you to press and hold the preset height or the up/down button until it reaches the preset height (if you release the up/down button, it will stop moving before reaching the preset height)?

Or by simply press and release the preset height button it will automatically moves to the preset height? (so without press and hold the up/down button)
Similar to: Omnidesk Pro 2020 demo

    • +1

You don't require to hold the button to rise the desk after you preset your memory height.

      • Thanks! So just press and release the preset height button would automatically moves the desk to the preset height, correct?

        • +1

Yes, just press and release the button, it will automatically move up or down.

  • Does shipping including assistance to move it into the elevator and roll it into my apartment for Melbourne? I've checked their shipping info but it doesn't clarify

    • +1

Hi, Freight company only can deliver to the down stair, but the product comes in 2 carton, not too heavy to carry.

  • Are we able to upgrade to a dual monitor and pay the extra $30ish ?

    • Sorry apparently it a bulk promotion order, so we cannot adjust the gift products.

  • bought 1, hopefully it can withstand the weight of LGCX. Thanks OP.

    • Hi as long as it in weight limit it will withstand.

  • Finding different information, is this single motor or dual motor?

    • We have both single motor and dual motor. But currently only the dual motor is on promotion.

      • Thanks for the reply. When does the promotion end?

        • +1

Hi, It should be ended around 15th Dec on when presale stock sold out.

  • Any thought on this one or Desky or Kergo?

Especially wobbling? Kergo seems have bigger legs

  • Can you install the keypad on either side?

    • +2

yes, controller can be install left or right.

  • Hi RDD001, I intent to use this for two-person seat, so I prefer a table top without the "scallop back edge". Would you be able to substitute with a complete rectangular table top? Does this use Linak actuator(probably a dumb question…)?

    • Hi, we currently dont have retangular tops, but you can always get the frames and use any larger table tops from bunnings or ikeas to fit your purpose. Hope this help.

  • +2

Thanks OP and everyone else here. After months of deliberation, I bought this desk with 1600mm desktop due to excellent value compared all other options.

  • Is this desk same as Deksy or OmniDesk?

  • +1

Has anyone worked out how to adjust the height of the monitor arm? Swivel and screen angle are easy but I can't seem to get the monitor higher or lower.

    Edit*
Nvm turns out I was just at the maximum height -_- Can push it down easily and then the torque adjustment screw becomes accessible though I wouldn't want to do that since it's already slightly too low for me.
