  • i have this. got from amazon for 450$ 2 months ago. absolutely love it. works fast like ipad, thousand times faster than windows. it is just like a mac, just i can't install all those big software. i use this for writing and watching videos. thats all

    • Out of stock now. Likely to get replenished before the sale concludes?

  • Gimme a deal on the Lenovo IdeaPad Duet 5 please! But good price for this.

    • Is this the one at JB? Doesn't seem like there's any other store in aus with stock atm.

      • Yeah, JB list as in stock. Amazon and Big W are OOS.

    • Are you happy with the screen? 1080 on 13.3" seems very old.

  • +2

If in doubt, for Lenovo products, if you have the ten character model number you can punch it into https://psref.lenovo.com/ and get the details.

In this case, it doesn't appear to be the 5i.

  • Keep an eye on eBay, I grabbed one off binglee eBay this afternoon for $412. is OOS atm, but might re-stock tomorrow.

    I can't seem to find a difference between 5 and 5i.

    • comment above just helped confirm it's the 5, not the 5i.

Link here to double check https://psref.lenovo.com/

    • link for those interested: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/154354892709

      • Good price! Hopefully they restock

    • This (eBay listing) is an i3 processor.
The specs claim it is i5 three times!

      • I saw that, I suppose will give me grounds to return it if I don't like it. (misrepresentation/advertising)
        tho for $412, I can't really complain.
My other Chromebook, I find the screen not bright enough at time)

        • Even though it's i3, it's a great Chromebook, imho. $412 is a steal.

  • Bought a 2 month old second hand for $300 but its the i7 8GB/128GB

    Monster of a chromebook

  • -1

Similar hardware, similar price, only browsing and word processing, this one or below Windows 10 book?

    https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lenovo-ideapad-slim-3-15-…

    • Well, similar except it doesn't have touchscreen, or a 360 degree hinge for tablet-style mode.
It's also 2 inches larger display, has double the RAM and in-built storage.
Oh and it's Windows not Chrome OS.
Apart from that… looks to be a reasonable machine for the price.

    • +1

      similar but have major differences.

Do you want chromeOS or windows?
Battery life I'm going to assume will be almost double on Flex 5 due to ChromeOS.
RAM is double on Slim 3 but may feel the same on day-to-day use due to ChromeOS on Flex 5.
Storage definately better on Slim 3.
Screen will be nicer on Flex 5 (IPS > TN) but you do get 15" on the Slim 3.
      Flex 5 is touchscreen 2-in-1, Slim 3 isn't.

  • I got one of these (Flex 5i as in OP) back at Easter and I love it - I prefer it for general use over my newer Lenovo Windows Ryen 7 16" featured on OzB.
It was very good for school remote learning too. The only grumble from the kids is that i3 processors don't support virtual backgrounds in Zoom.

  • Interesting about the 5 vs 5i question.

The base Flex 5i listed on the Lenovo site is 82B8003FAU (currently reduced to $487 there btw) and its processor is:

    Intel Celeron 5205U (2C / 2T, 1.9GHz, 2MB)

The one for sale in this deal (currently OOS) is 82B8000RAU, with CPU:

    Intel Core i3-10110U (2C / 4T, 2.1 / 4.1GHz, 4MB)

    These are according to https://psref.lenovo.com/.

Otherwise the specs seem identical, though it looks like 5i ships with a pen included.

If the info I found is correct I'd rather the Flex 5 due to much better CPU.

I got a price match on a 82B8000RAU from GG yesterday at $434 while BL still had stock.

    • It is only said pen upgradeable, did not say it is included. A free pen will be a good bonus.

      • https://psref.lenovo.com/ says:

        82B8003FAU: Lenovo USI Pen
        82B8000RAU: Pen Upgradeable

Whether the first one includes the pen I'm not sure.

          From GG eBay…

    • Oh, and slightly faster RAM in the 5 than the 5i: DDR4-2666 rather than DDR4-2400.

  • there are some reviews in the Amazon US website on its hinge problem. Have any users experienced this or have Lenovo managed to do something about it?

    • Yes, my right hinge "broke" . Picked up on a Monday and returned on Friday (even to Tassie), with new hinge and a new top cover (which was bent slightly at the hinge). Very happy with the service.

      • @Limbot was yours still in warranty?

  • Will JB match Bing Lee's price (including shipping costs)?

  • So it arrived today and I'm loving it.

Everything feels quick, touchpad is nice, keyboard solid, sound decent, screen is good & bright.

Also the touchscreen is actually awesome, thought it'd be a gimmick
