D-Link mydlink Smart DIY Motion Sensor Zigbee (DCH-B122) $14 + Delivery (Free for Kogan First) @ Kogan

D-Link mydlink Smart DIY Motion Sensor (DCH-B122)

Bought 4 hoping they will work with Smartthings. Already supported via Deconz for those who use that (I have no idea what Deconz is but presume it integrates Home Assistant and ZigBee via a Conbee or similar).

Awesome price for a ZigBee PIR of a relatively reputable brand

  • It’s not listed on Conbee 2 compatibility list

    • I wonder if it’s just a re-badge

    • Found it here:
      https://zigbee.blakadder.com/D-Link_DCH-B122.html

The real question is if it shows up in Phoscon, but if it’s marked as working… it probably does, given it’s a single purpose sensor

      • Thanks

      • Sad to say I haven't gotten it to work in smartthings. Tried a bunch of different device handlers without luck. Bought 4 which are unfortunately useless to me. Maybe I need to buy a Conbee 2 and move across to Home Assistant fully

        • I’d imagine you’d want either conbee or ZIGBEE2MQTT get most Flexibility

          • @[Deactivated]: I bought a Sonoff ZigBee 3 dongle after reading feedback that it seems to be more compatible in general than the Conbee 2

            • @10101010101: Interesting.. isn’t it just a rebadged CC2531?
In general that’s right that ZIGBEE2MQTT supports more devices, but I love the deconz setup and UI.
I’ve heard the CC2531 is a bit whimsy but you can overcome the 20 device limit by adding more coordinator devices

  • would it work with google home?

    • +1

You need a compatible ZigBee hub

  • I got smart things too and was gonna buy this based on your comments but can't seem to see D Link on the smart things app. Can you add a brand/device not there?

The old smart things interface system isn't available now to do a "search"

  • Kogan has Cygnett Smart Motion Detector for $14. Zigbee.

    • My only problem with these is the lag… does anyone know a particular model that feels more responsive?
I know it’s due to sleeping too save battery, but I sometimes wish I could power them externally

      • Is lag from wifi needing to reconnect? I use Zigbee locally and it is fast.
Wifi is OK for mains powered devices, but seems crazy for a motion sensor or button.

        • Depending on how aggressively they sleep, it might take a second for it to scan.
Remember this is a device that gets a year or two off a CR2032 coin cell, so it sleeps and wakes up to scan.
You're right Zigbee itself beats wifi hands down for communication lag.

    • I always thought cygnet was Bluetooth?

      • connectivity

        Wireless Technology
        ZigBee

        Source>Specifications

        • Thanks! I double checked some other sources as I don't trust Kogan descriptions and indeed it is ZigBee. Button is also $14

          • @10101010101: Button or remote?
You can get a two button Trafri remote from ikea or $10, or a 5 button scene remote for like $20 or so

    • Cygnett button is a ewelink button. Managed to use a Sonoff device handlers to get it working.
