Best budget 65" TV in the $1000-1400 range?

Trying to scoop up a TV this Black Friday, and I've been comparing TV's but tbh I haven't bought a TV in over a decade so I have no idea what any of the new tech means. I did a bit of research into LED vs QLED vs OLED and stuff like which backlighting is better, but outside of that it's all over my head.

Here are some options in my price range, although the specs are a bit iffy I can't even find how many nits the last two are:

TCL C725
https://www.tcl.com/au/en/products/c725/65C725.html
100hz, QLED, 330 nits, back-lit

Hisense U7G
https://hisense.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/05/65U7G-Spec…
100hz, ULED, ??? nits, direct-lit

Samsung AU8000 (bit more exxy than the others but I have a mate who can get some sort of a staff discount on this)
https://www.samsung.com/au/tvs/uhd-4k-tv/au9000-crystal-uhd-…
100hz, LED, ??? nits, edge-lit

EDIT:

TGG now has a TCL C727 for the same price as the C725

Seems to be the same specs but has 450 nits instead of 330, and has "full array local dimming" which is apparently good. Is this probably the no brainer option then?

  • I got a Hisense 65" at this price point from JB about two years ago or so. Can't remember the model number, but has been perfect for our requirements.

  • I too have a Hisense 65. It's a P7 from memory. Paid 1296 at the time. I don't watch FTA on it at all because it's not hooked up to it. However, it gets used a whole lot for streaming and gaming. Hasn't skipped at beat and have been quite satisfied. I'm also quite impressed at how sufficiently loud it is, considering how thin it is. For us, it was loud enough to forego the planned sound bar purchase.

  • Got a Hisense 65Q8 last year (previous TV was a Panasonic Plasma) and very happy with it. I thought not having an OLED screen would be an issue but I'm really happy with the colours.

  • Trying to find that Samsung currently but there doesn’t seem to be any stock in Australia currently

  • I am having the same dilemma, You can get the Hisense 65U8G for $1409 from powerland. How would this compare ?

  • Hisense u8g or tcl c715 seem to be the best. Open to hear others.

  • If you look at the specs the TCL c715 is a closer match to the Hisense U7G which is $1195 at most places.
