Hisense 75Q8 75" 4K Ultra HD ULED TV $1837.60 + Delivery @ David Jones

170

2020 model but by most accounts is superior to the 2021 models.
Price is already discounted on website, listed at $2297 - but there currently is an additional 20% off which brings it down to $1837.60 (+ Delivery, which to Perth for me is $50).

Not quite as good as the crazy clearance price of 1488 at JB last month, but stock was very hard to come by for that deal.

I was looking at the various 75 inch TVs on sale for Black Friday, under $2000 — most of the current year models all seemed underwhelming in some way or another.
e.g. Hisense U7G/U8G being pauper's pack versions compared to the US; the TCL C727 being full array but no local dimming and only 450 nits brightness.

So, even though the Q8 is last year's model, it has a VA panel, FALD and a good peak brightness of 1000 nits.

From my experience with DJ, I am wondering whether they actually have stock.

    • What's your past experience been? They took my payment and I have an order confirmation. Are they likely to cancel and refund?

      • They cancelled and refunded me before even I ordered a microwave, even site said have stock but actually they don't. Not to said those very popular or price error items.

        • +1

My order status has now been marked "Shipped", so fingers crossed it's all good!

  • The Hisense U7G and U8G also apparently complain 4k 120hz, but in reality do not

    • wot

      • Sorry I just reread this and have no idea what the word complain was supposed to be. On a Gizmodo article, they discovered that this TV claims to have 120hz 4k capabilities but actually doesn't

        • As I understand not Aussie version.

No hdmi 2.1 from memory. Important for game consoles, less so for movies

  • Can someone advise how this compares to the 75 U8G for movies?

    • or better yet, U9G

    • +2

This one has VA panel vs U8G has IPS panel.
For movies VA panel is considered better.

      • Thanks for the advice, might grab this one then instead of a newer model.

        • Q8 was great for the price.
I am looking at U9G, but it's new so they are not on display in the shops yet.
That suppose to have VA panel they say.

@Dave1988: U9G is mini led. Obviously it's early days but I would say a pretty safe bet that it's much better than both these models by a fair margin.

            • @bert-lifts:

              U9G is mini led

In that case won't be this price range.

            • @bert-lifts: Blooming is a problem with mini LED.

              • @AlexF: blooming is a problem with most LED tv's that have some sort of local dimming. If blooming is a deal breaker then get an OLED.

            • @bert-lifts: U9G is currently on sale for approx $2500 for the 75 inch — yes I'm sure it's better but also about 30% more expensive (600-700 more).
Compared to the U8G (approx $2200) it might be a worthwhile upgrade though if one can stretch the extra 200-300.

  • Hi, can anyone who bought from this deal confirm when they ordered and when it was received?

I purchased on 27/11, got an order confirmation with status shipped but no tracking details.

    • Yes — ordered 24/11
      Marked "Shipped" later that day
I was phoned by DJ delivery on 2/12 to arrange a delivery date
      Delivered on 6/12

      • Happy with the TV?

        • Haven't had time to wall mount it yet… still in box… will report back to you!
