  • Was thinking maybe they make a 65" TV, and sure enough, very decent price: https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-65-OLED-Android-804/dp/B09…

@ under 2200 it's significantly less than an LG and has to be using the same panel right? Philips hasn't sold their TV division to the Chinese have they?

    • Basically, yes.

However, their new TVs in particular have been rated very highly indeed, with image processing up with the best of them. Plus, they have ambilight built in.

Downsides: they aren't available in Aus yet, and they only go up to 65" in oled.

      • Interesting, well good to hear. It's amazing what people will downvote these days…

This or the Sony X90J 55"?

    • This is a Philips 2019 model and won’t have VRR update coming up like the Sony.

      • +4

The Sony update will be rubbish, is my prediction.
At least if going by previous Sony "available via future firmware updates" are to go by. cough Dolby Vision cough

      • Why does it say model year 2021 ?

        "Model year 2021"

    • Also you’re comparing a newer LED to a older OLED so you’ll have to weigh up the pros and cons

      • so which one?

I probably wouldn’t pick either and go for a LG C1….the ozbargain TV. 😃

I have the 65", this is a crazy price. I use with an Apple TV 4K, highly recommend. I have an Atmos sound system, so I can't comment on audio.

    • based on the review it is suffering from motion processing issues for 4k60p — https://www.whathifi.com/au/reviews/philips-65oled804
will offloading the work through apple tv solves the issue?

      • There are noticeable issues, however for these prices, it is worth it. OLED is just so much better than LED, even with minimal issues like this.

Thanks Op, for a 2019 model I would expect it to be closer to around $1000 price range. Even the LG BX was the lowest around $1695.

  • FYI LG OLED panel.

    • Watch out, someone might downvote you for saying that!

Edit: Just realised you linked to the LCD, no the 65" oled

    The 65" OLED is $2195: https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-65-OLED-Android-804/dp/B09…

That seems like a better bargain to me.

  • Sockpuppeting detected, OP is associated with amazon, but deal is retained due to interest.

No HDMI 2.1 and motion issues why wouldn't you pay a bit more and get a rock solid C1 with the black Friday deals
