This is considered to be one of the best of the affordable lightweight (2kg) two-person three-season freestanding backpacking tents on the market. Checking camelcamelcamel, I see that it does drop to this price every few months, but it's on sale now. If you're looking for something to buy to get the MasterCard $10 Amazon gift card deal and you're into hike-in, hike-out camping trips, this is a good opportunity. Green or Orange colours are available.

The tent is pretty light for the price, but to reduce the tent's weight by an additional 208g, you may choose the 20D Nylon fabric material option,

which will come to $177.65 (usually $209). Both of the deals represent roughly a 15% discount. Check the specifications carefully when ordering to make sure you are getting the material you prefer.

Actually, if you browse the Naturehike tents on the Amazon AU site, quite a few versions of this tent design are marketed (one-person, three-person). Almost all of them are part of the Black Friday sale and are a good value right now depending on your needs.

I have 3 Naturehike tents - 2 are the cloudup. Brilliant quality. I reckon get the 20D versions if you are after light weight. Worth the extra $40 if weight saving is important. I don't carry all the pegs either and if I know the ground is not rocky, I will leave the mat at home too which saves more weight.

    • How do we tell which ones are "20d versions"?

I've seen this listing on Amazon and it's always a mess. Not only to me, from what I see in the short Q&A section.

On the icons for model and colour you will see options for 20D in grey, snow/grey and 2 of the green ones. The cheap ones are 210T Polyester - good but old school on weight.

I see, the two that are $140.25 have a 210t floor instead od 20d. It's 2.08 kg vs 1.80 kg.

        • I am really keen to try a noticeably more lightweight tent than the Macpac Minaret I have, to give me a more buoyant and pleasant walk when the weather conditions will allow it. I cancelled my order on the 210T version and pulled the trigger on the 20D. Thanks for clearing that up.

          • @coolrunnings: Pleased to help out. It's a great tent. Proper inner a fly + mat. Very flexible design, so you can mix and match components to suit. I have hade just the inner with poles inside a spider and rat infested hut. Pleasant nights sleep. In the past sleeping in the huts I have woken with spiders on my face and body.

  • I believe these are Big Agnes Fly Creek UL2 clones - most of the big agnes stuff is pretty well designed.
