I've been waiting for a deal less than $1000… Finally got one before it's retirement.

Was so happy I had to share with all.

  • +2

Putting the price in the title would be useful

    • Done

  • Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Close, but no.

    • Really? Did I buy at a high price?

      • +1

Oh! Don't get me wrong, its been a while since it was sub-$1000, but knowing its best deal was in the low $800s (which would be damn rare now in this buyer's market), I personally wouldn't buy until it was under $900.

That's me though, and regardless of $1000 or under $900, it's still a substantial amount to invest in lego.

        • +2

Invest? or Enjoy? I'm enjoying =)

          • @Mortal Krumpet: Yeah, when I meant invest I meant the cost.

If I could justify to buy (and have somewhere to display it), I would absolutely build. I'm not the sort to hoard lego!

            • @stubbietubbie: So.. what's your point mate? I think this is a great deal worthy of sharing.. Don't you??

              • +2

@zedrok: Please don't get me wrong, I'm not arguing that it's not worth sharing. Certainly better than some of these so-called Black Friday 'deals' posted in the last day.

I certainly ummed over it but yeah; just gave my two cents. Please don't mind me and sorry if I offended.

                • +1

@stubbietubbie: I've taken no offence at all. I'm still so excited to have got one.. just one..

What does cause me offence is when a bargain becomes available and it becomes second hand after it's delivered. Yet resold in its unopened box for 200-300 more than RRP.

What kind of miserable human buys up lego so others can't enjoy it?

I can provide my definition if you'd like to share, in lego style 😆

                  • +1

@zedrok: For sure, and I'm definitely jealous of the experience you'll have putting it together over many hours/days. One day, I hope to get this set; I'm sure it's a good as everyone says.

                    • @stubbietubbie: I've watched way too many build videos over the last few years to know its worth the money.

If you can't afford it, hit me up for mine in a bit. I don't keep them just build and buy the next one for entertainment.

                      As Lego should be

          • @Mortal Krumpet: I share your enthusiasm Mortal Krumpet 😜

        • +2

Yeah I agree with you mate. It's alot of money.. I have spent many weekends looking at second hand sellers, but looking around their house thinking… there's going to be pieces missing.

I just can't bring myself to the second hand lego market other than with one other seller.

Could have bought two of these for the RRP, but would most definitely have been missing pieces.

Kordez, the cost will become less significant once you build and display it. By far the coolest and most rewarding set to build…took me 38 hours…. Add a light my bricks set (imbrickjames.com.au) … Enjoy …I’m waiting for the imperial destroyer to come up.

        • Thanks so much. I have been drooling over the light upgrades and display options..

Speaking of which; do you have a suggestion on how you did or would display it?
I was thinking movie room glass top and side coffee table with Bluetooth and sensor automated lighting..

  • Thanks for posting this deal. I have been wanting it at below the $1000 mark as well. Was getting concerned that it is retired extremely soon and I may miss out.

I also managed to get another $100 off with the cash rewards via zavvi.

Did anyone get a Dispatch Date? I am concerned mine is backordered, as the Dispatch Date is a month away.

    Status: Awaiting Stock
    Est. Dispatch Date 24/12/21

Considering this set is to be retired, I hope they don't cancel my order.

    • how did you get $100 with cash rewards via zavvi! I thought it was just 5.6% Cashback from them through Cashback app. did I miss something?

      • CashRewards was 10% for existing customers and 15% for new customers on the weekend.

So I got the 10% which was like ~$96
