4x Gold Class Movie Tickets for $39 (Save $117), Free Postage - Friday's Amex Connect Deal

1201

Okay, I'll post this a day early. I think I have enough tickets now.

This is today's upcoming deal for Amex Connect (at 12:00pm). I am not a rep, a few of us on the forums figured out how to get this info early.

Gold Class Movie Tickets, buy 1, get 3 free. $39 for 4 tickets, saving $117. Free postage via Australia Post (ordinary, not registered).
Tickets expire 30 March 2013.
Valid at Event, Birch Carroll & Coyle and Village cinemas.

You're meant to need a bank issued (ANZ, CBA, NAB, Westpac) Amex but in reality it simply DOES NOT MATTER.
I have used a non-bank issued Amex to buy a whole bunch of stuff from Amex Connect already. Just select any bank when asked.

I don't know how many will be available but the first batch had 700 lots, the second batch had 400 lots.

So the link was meant to be: http://www.amexconnect.com.au/OfferDetails.aspx?OfferId=47
BUT, if yesterday's deal is anything to go by, it might change so I suggest you simply bookmark http://www.amexconnect.com.au

TIPS for those crying about not being able to purchase anything:
Use a decent fixed broadband internet connection, not some mobile "broadband" rubbish.
Have your credit card number saved in the clipboard so you can just Ctrl-V it (or if your name is really really long, maybe have that saved instead).
At around 11:45, go to the site, click on Your Profile, log in again when prompted by the pseudo-popup, and leave the browser open.
Open up your system clock. It should be sync'ed to an internet time server, just as Amex Connect's server is. When it hits 12:00:00pm, refresh the page. No earlier.
Maybe open another tab loading the page every 5-10 seconds, but leave the current one going. Don't hit refresh.
Once one starts loading, close all others.
Do this for the first click (View Deal), and second click (Buy Now).
TYPE FAST.

T&C will state one purchase per person per account per card per day per whatever.
However, if you have multiple accounts you can purchase multiple times, just use different details in the top box of checkout.
Delivery name / address can be the same, credit card details can be the same.
You will need multiple accounts now as the email address field is not editable as it was during the first batch of tickets. To pull this off, have multiple browsers / computers pre-logged in from different accounts (will likely sell out before you can switch accounts).

This is the last daily deal by Amex Connect (unless they extend it).
Thanks for the great ride, American Express. Cheers for the bargains.

but today's tablet tricked us by jumping to 118 (random)

Thanks a lot OP. Finally score 1 deal this time. I didn't get to the order confirmation page was loading forever then when I looked in my email the magical confirmation email is there. :O

    • First thing I did was looking in the email… almost 2 hrs passed still no email :( i hope magic appears for me soon :)

For all those that asked, I took my first set of vouchers ( I managed to get three sets) into Village Doncaster Gold Class (Melbourne) and they accepted them with no questions. Off to see Hunger games with the family tonight.

You can't book for Village Gold Class using these vouchers online. So you have to actually go into the box office to book and get your tickets. A bit of a pain, but still well worth it…

    • Thanks for verifying.

    • doesn't it say on the leaflet that you can book online using the vouchers?

      • +1

The T&C state that the vouchers cannot be used to book online for Village Cinemas in VIC/TAS.
Call village (VIC/TAS) 1300 555 400 if you want to make a booking with the vouchers ahead of time.

  • my work network conveniently went down 1 min after i hit buy it now… grrr

  • Got to the final submit page where no doubt it was checking the card details, and it timed out. Managed to get to the same page three times, and each time it just timed out on that last stage. Twice from work, and once from home (using Teamviewer on a pc there). Very much a lottery, and also annoying….

    • Double checked then, and indeed have also been charged $39 - no email, no 'phone call…. will wait and see if anything turns up. Not the best form, but at least with Amex you can be fairly confident that you can get the money back if you don't get the tickets….

  • Everytime I tried to make payment it kept saying Fraud error also :(

It did not happen when I purchased previous deals from other days.

  • it seems for me payment did go through but have not received a confirmation email. Anyone else?

    • I received the confirmation email with the order number.

      • hmm sent a query to amex and said pinpoint will be in touch?

    • yes, that happened with me. It's gone through (not just reserved funds) on my CC. But no email yet.

      • it has happened to me too?? have you guys resolved this? did you get a ticket?

        • think everyone here said it will take about a week. I've not received the email that some of the OzBargainers here have said they received about getting their order processed manually, so I have sent a follow up email.

      • How did you go? I have sent a e-mail to Amex connect got the standard reply. Transaction is on credit card transaction but no e-mail.

        • they asked me for my phone number… then since then they've called twice to say that they will check in the back end… and second to confirm the delivery address. So hopefully, I'll get something next week.

  • When do we actually receive the tickets?

    1 week?

Want to use them to see Hunger Games

    • My email says within 28 days of purchase.

    • 28 days is what is quoted, in reality we've gotten tickets after a week.

  • negging this deal as the payment went through, only to say out of stock, cr card statement still says pending, but no confirmation email…

    • has this been worked out yet? i got charged but no confirmation as well..

  • I never received an email for this but my payment went through. Just got an email saying they were processing my order manually. So I assume everyone else will get theirs also.

    • Did you contact them or did they contact you? My payment has gone through according to my bank but Friday's purchases haven't appeared on my transaction list, so I haven't emailed them yet. Might have to.

      • I contacted them on Friday, and they just called me now and processed the order manually. I'm guessing you need to contact them, as they actually needed to get all my credit card and address details again. None of that information got captured on Friday.

        Pretty dodgy.

        • Thanks I will. I wonder if you will get charged twice? You (like me) had your payment go through.

  • I received an email they are going to call me to process my tickets manually :)

  • I also got the same email that they will process it manually.

Still feel a bit funny about someone calling me, and me giving them my credit card details.

    • when did this happen?

      • They called up today. Hope i didn't just fall for a Nigerian scam.

        • Me too.

        • What number did you get called from?

I got called from 02-93523110, checked it is from pinpoint group

        • Yup thats the same number as me.

        • +1

          same number. guy called dean.

    • So I have definitely paid, it showed up on my credit card today as a purchase on Friday to Amexconnet but I have not received an e-mail confirming it. Did they say If they get your credit card details again are they going to charge you again or is it just cross reference who the payment belongs to?

      • Not sure exactly how it works but I get the feeling that the first charge only went through as a pending authorisation, and that because of the site crashing it would not be completed. As I said they actually needed all details so nothing appears to have been captured through the site. Probably best to mail them.

  • seems that I have been charged the $39 without getting any confirmation email! not happy…anyone know the contact email? Doesnt seem to be one mentioned on the website..cheers

    • That's happened to a lot of us. If you want to contact them you need to go to amexconnect.com.au and pick the contact us option and fill in your details. I have done this but I haven't got a reply yet from the company that manages it, Pinpoint. Crossing my fingers that they just forgot to send the e-mail and I get the tickets next week.

      • thanks, pretty poor practice if you ask me…

  • Oh my god.. my card got charged for this, even though I never got any confirmation or my tickets. :(

The web page crashed before it could confirm the sale but it already took my money. :(

If they don't give me a refund I will dispute the charge with my bank.

    • It happened to a few other people read the comments above yours just drop them an email and they will process the tickets manually

    • They sent an email today, saying that you had until today to tell them whether you want the tix or not. If not, they will automatically refund your money.

  • Received mine yesterday from a regular transaction. Ie, paid and confirmed via standard ordering process, no manual steps once submitted.

  • Received my tickets in the mail

  • You may want to check your statements, as I've discovered today that I have been double charged for this.

  • I got my tickets today :)

  • Got mine yesterday - through the manual method. Only got charged once. Alls well that ends well.

    • Thanks for sharing, i hope mine will be arriving today then.

  • Well, had $39 taken from my card on 30/3, got no emails from them either confirming that they had taken the money or giving an option for tickets or refund, and just checked & $39 has just been credited back onto the card on 20/4. So not out of pocket, but did waste a fair amount of time on this. Personally I feel as though they have reneged on the deal they had advertised…. I can understand refunding money where someone might have been charged more than once, but when someone had paid for the item the default should not be to just refund the money.

I suspect that the site is run by Spreets, so being a third party if their system accepted payments but lost the contact details then they would have an issue…. they should however have been able to send the name & card details to Amex to then have them contact the members….. at the very least, an apology could have been sent out to people who had joined the site.

    • I would have sent an enquiry soon after 30/3 (which I did). They called, and took my details. Then sent a mass email saying you have to let them know if you still want the tix, otherwise they will refund the money… I said I'd already been contacted, and they apologized for contacting me twice… and nearly two weeks later (should have been about 1), I finally got the tix.

  • after waiting over 3 weeks… they finally arrived!!

  • Yeah I got my 4 free tickets today also ;)
