    does this include amazon au?

  • Only got a 2% discount voucher. Pm me if anyone needs that. Also am interested to know a yone got anything higher.

  • I would say you have a very small chance of getting 50% off. You have to spin a wheel, I managed to get 2% off unsurprisingly.

Competitions are not deals, so please do not post competitions, contests or anything that only a small number who have registered might win.

Spin the wheel to win discounts! feels more like a competition.

    I tried 30 times and I "won" 30 x 2% discount vouchers.

Champ keep going you might hit it once in 1000 goes .

    • Thanks for your research

I suspected the odds of getting 50% off were abysmally low, but I noticed after half a day no one else had posted this deal so I thought I would

"Users will enjoy additional rewards of up to 10% back in CRO when they checkout with Crypto.com Pay"

"Without the required staking, the user will enjoy 5% back in CRO. After the campaign period, the user will revert to a regular earn rate of 2% or 1%."

This sounds like the real deal here

Enjoy up to 50% off the entire cart

I really dislike these forms of advertising..it feels misleading knowing that the average person can only get 2%.

  • It looks like you're shopping on the shopping.io platform and not actually Amazon/ebay directly? It also says they will ship it to you with a subscription model (free shipping in US for all plans)

  • I'm yet to confirm with my own accountant but there is talk about that using this card also incurs a capital gains tax event everytime you use it …

    • Not true - there's a full breakdown of the rules at https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/5483768-tax-rules-in-aus…

      • Fantastic reading skills, literally in the link you posted:

        Payment
Paying cryptocurrency for services and goods is considered a taxable event. It becomes non-taxable when personal use asset exemption applies. (See details in “Other Tax Rule”) The capital gains/losses can be calculated by subtracting the cost basis from the FMV (fair market value) of the coins you send.

I spent 5 mins looking into it, there are thresholds etc depending on how much other holdings you have and what other transactions act towards your exemption limit.
Something to keep in mind people. No point getting 5% back when its costing you 30% more to use.

        • Can you please report back if your accountant says anything different or other advice. Thanks!

          • +1

@toobzy: See below, sk213 has completely misunderstood how the card works 👍

Capital gains isn't an issue when using the card. You can't "spend" your crypto directly (which would be a taxable event, if it were possible).

If you sell crypto to top-up the card, then this is absolutely a capital gains event (obviously, because you've just sold crypto). It's also something you never need to do if you top-up the card with fiat $$$.

        • My reading skills are great, thanks.

Paying cryptocurrency for services and goods is considered a taxable event.

You can't pay with Cryptocurrency with the crypto.com card.

The card holds fiat $$$ only.

The paragraph you posted is completely irrelevant 🤷🏼‍♂️

using this card also incurs a capital gains tax event everytime you use it …

          I repeat :
Not true - there's a full breakdown of the rules at https://help.crypto.com/en/articles/5483768-tax-rules-in-aus…

        • There are no taxes on cashback. People that insist there is can have fun paying extra taxes.

          • @rektrading: This 👍

            • @Nom: Sorry. Please let me clarify.

The cashback received as tokens from spending $100 in fiat money isn't taxable income nor an investment. The token value let's say $10 per token can be sold with zero tax liability within a reasonable timeframe.

Now, it's something entirely different if the tokens are hodl for a few years and the fiat value is now $10,000 per token. Sale at this time would legally trigger a $9,990 gain per token and a CGT event. It should be taxed in accordance with the tax law in the future.

              I hope this helps.
