'Aerodynamic chassis'.. that should help with the wind drag.

id be more worried about the 100kg weight limit given the audience here and out there

      • +1

I'm normal weight for my height (78kg), but once you slap a wheel and pedals, potentially a monitor, maybe one of those bass things (like a mid range sim setup), you'd easily be at 100kg's. Unless that is JUST for the chair.

      Now that's funny 😄

This deal whilst a good price is the brush covering to the "sim moneypit"
Sim racing is awesome but it's also possible to just keep spending. A good rig with monitor/VR setup/ good pedals,wheel/buttkicker etc will easily find you spending thousands.
    Just a word of warning.

So true. I'm looking to replace my logitech wheel for a fanatec.

I have the G920 set, is there a cheaper beginner cockpit setup that you could recommend?

    • +1

Yep so true, started off with a g29 on my desk a year ago then bought this rig a few months after as a "big upgrade".

I'm now using an alu extrusion rig, CSL DD, and triple monitors. And there's still a lot more to upgrade haha

      • +1

Got my g923 just 6months ago and just ordered CSL DD waiting for it to arrive.. ordered load cell pedals on black friday and now also looking at alu rigs… Worst is I don't have much time to play and too many other hobbies to maintain…

        • Yep I feel that! I try to block away some time for iracing each week, but it's getting hard

      • what alu rig are you using?

        • Simrigs exodus, super cheap and I already had a seat and seat bracket to go with it.

What’s the go with supporting load cell pedals? Any reason why this wouldn’t?

    • +2

Probably unable to take full braking pressure in the pedal plate when using high end load cell setups. I've seen many a bent or ripped free scenarios with thin pedal plates. They probably advise the same rig with upgraded pedal plate and mountings.

    • it'll be just how cheap & nasty the pedal plate is - it'll be fine for low end gear but it won't handle the pressure required for someone to kick 80kgs of force into it

    • They can be mounted, but looking at the pedal plate it is really only supported at the bottom end. This means that the metal plate will flex downward as you're pressing on a stiff load cell pedal. On really cheap cockpits it might completely bend/fail over time.

      Help !

I'd suggest holding your phone or camera closer to your body, with elbows tucked in to your body. This should help reduce camera shake and get a clearer pic.

      • Ah loooks fun! Is that a dedicated PC?

        • nah that was one i was fixing for my nephew, i have 3m long displayport cables and just switch between my desktop & sim-rig, PC is out of shot :)

        Nice and clean. I like….

      • Is that a custom keyboard mount?

        • +1

the whole rig comes from racekraft (https://racekraft.net) - the keyboard tray was one of the optional extras i got, definitely glad i got it - it works a treat :)

          • @jaybo: Wow, that stage 6 machine is a beast. I couldn't see the price tag for it though. Not sure if I want to either 😅

    • I'm jelly

I have pre-ordered the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0, which I got on special during their black Friday sales (https://pagnianimports.com.au/collections/racing-cockpits/pr…). I don't have the room to have it set-up all the time, and this one folds up for storage. Also, a seat can be purchased later to turn it into a full sim set-up.

  • I looked at this in the past but decided to just spend the extra and get a proper rig. This lacks the adjustability (is that a word?) of an 8020 profile set up and really limits options going forward. The seating position also seems wrong, seat is wayyy to high compared to the pedal plate (maybe better for a truck/farming sim). You can get similar budget cockpits from ebay that would also be cheaper, but again it will only be a stepping stone for anyone who is really into the hobby will soon outgrow this rig. GT Omega Prime is what I ended up with after starting with a cheap ebay rig (thankfully sold at the same price I bought for).

    • Funny, that was my thought exactly when I was looking at the seat height.

      • Yeah it just doesn't seem right, but I've never sat in one so it's just based on what I've seen in images. Also of note, this exact model is sold under different brand names - when I looked at it, the brand was called Brateck and was about $460 delivered (on sale at the time apparently)

Edit: didn't realize this info was already included in the post..

  • Track racer has 10% off. bd10 is the code. Best quality but it’s not cheap

    • Hey the code doesn't work. If it is 10% off I am looking to order the TR80.
