Just got it. Converts to 2 months game pass ultimate, a whopping $71.90 value at the new jacked rates!

    • -1

And still cheaper than current rates @ $22.95/m

      • Just topped up an extra few months on mine, now don't have to deal with this until 2027

        Thanks OP

    • -2

Wait a sec, so you paid $71.90 for 2 months of GPU, that's $35.95 per month.

I thought the new rate for Australian GPU is the same $35.95 per month?

      • +2

I think they mean that they bought the deal via Telstra, then converted it to 2 months of GPU which will be worth $71.90 at the new prices. Don't think they meant that they paid $71.90.

        • Ah I see.

      • -1

        I paid $34.82 ;)

    • +2

That costs more that the 3 years I got back in 2023.

      • +1

Mainly f2p lately, the aaa titles these days are usually a disappointment and full of bugs.

Picked up cyberpunk 2077 not long ago for $15 that will keep me occupied till I get gpu again otherwise can't just the current price yet alone the jacked up one

      • So you don't play any games online ?

        • On PC there's no monthly fees required to play games online (with the exception of certain MMOs)

    • Is the convert just an option when you put the code in?

      • +2

It's automatic if you have GPU already, it tells you what your new expiry will be before final checkout

    • +3

I found this table at Microsoft which outlines all the conversion rates and took a screenshot. It covers converting Core, Gold, Console, PC, and EA Play to the equivalent Game Pass Ultimate.

      • +1

Note there are 2 types of conversions on the page you mention
The one you are referring to covers converting when you have an existing subscription already. However there are separate conversion rates when upgrading (new sub). In this case for PC pass it is the same conversion for both. However it is different for Core (Essential) where upgrading has a significantly better rate (40% vs 25%).

        • I miss the days where it was 1:1 conversion :( I got 3yrs worth for something like $220 from buying Turkish region Xbox Gold codes then doing the conversion to Gamepass Ultimate for the $2 trial fee.

My GPU only expired in August so these two rounds of price increases right after my GPU expired stings a lot.

    • How did you get that to work? I can't get it to accept unless i pay $19.45 which is says is for one month (this is during the redemption of the 3month code)

    • Any point converting if don't own anything except PC? Also how do you convert it?

  • -1

Code is good, buy and save for BO7.

    Cheers OP

    • Closed beta from 2-5 Oct.

  • Stackable?

    • +2

Yes. Just tried. and the vouchers have no expiry

    • +1

      Up to 36 months.

  • +13

Damn, I saved all these m$oft rewards and they've taken away the ability to redeem gamepass and instead use xbox giftcards

    • +5

i was redeeming them yesterday and after 5 codes, it stopped working as it got a code stucka nd now works but cant redeem them anymore. so dodge

      • +2

Same! Definitely a '24h cooldown' yesterday after the 5th order.

        • Happened to me as well. i couldn't redeem my points after five codes until my "transactions were processed"- the last at 1am the day after I purchased them.

    • +2

Probably due to price change ($35.95/month for GamePass Ultimate). Microsoft wants to quickly close the loophole. The hike on points if / when they return in rewards store will be interesting. Damn, should have claimed some before.

    • By redeeming codes areyou referring to the 3 Mth GPU for 35000 rewards points or were you limited to 1 Mth GPU for 12000 rewards points - and that it stops when you attempt to add the codes to your Microsoft Xbox account?

    • With the gift card redeem kinda feels like a bit cheaper than before if aiming for GP premium, obvs more expensive if GP ultimate

Got lucky and spent my points last week
But long term premium seems to cover what I play.

  • Do we have to redeem the code in a short time, or can we save it for example, early next year?

    • +1

The ones I bought didn't have an expiry date

    • Only worry is if they change the conversion ratio to ultimate as thats what im planning on using it for

  • how much can you stockpile at once?

    • +1

In the past, you can load up your account with 3 years, not sure if they changed that!

    • +1

3 years but i dont think the codes themselves expire?

      • I had some digital codes which expired, but could be they were provided as bonus (for external SSD or games or included in the console). Those did have the expiry date written on the cards.

  • +16

I remember when it was $1…

  • +2

If I already have game pass ultimate billed to my telstra account, will using this code just add to my current subscription and convert to the equivalent ultimate automatically?

    • I am in same situation. Can I just redeem this to my current game pass ultimate subscription? Thanks

      • +1

        Yep, you'll get 2 months.

        • Thanks, I might chuck a couple on and then retire my GP after that.

I have some telstra plus points as well to bring it down to $25.

    • yours still working.. mine got cancelled last week

      • My GPU via Telstra billing? Seems to be working still.

  • What is required to get a Telstra Plus account? Can you get one with the cheapest prepaid service?

    • I'm not sure if the $2 sims would count as a service, but you can get their $12 sims. Or ask around if anyone has telstra internet/mobile.

    • +1

Nothing, you can just sign up, you don't need to have an active Telstra service connected.

  • +2

    Bring back the Türkiye method.

    • Very hard now since Micro$oft doesn't allow using Turkey VPN to purchase.

      • What happens when you try?

        • -1

Error. I still have some XBox Turkey store credits which I cannot use (games are cheaper on Turkey store). Foreign credit cards not allowed (due to Turkish government regulation - designed to stop us from taking advantage of the loophole). Microsoft also increased the GamePass subscription prices there soon after the OZB deal was posted.

        • An OZBer messaged me and informed me if you let your XBox console connect to Turkey VPN for 3 weeks (and don't login using local AU only Internet without VPN during that time), Microsoft will "unlock" the incorrect region lock and let you purchase. I haven't tried it (and most likely won't try it).

    • +4

the good old times. for $80 i got 3 years of GPU which ran out in september and I will never buy it again until I get a similar deal. During the time i had GPU i rarely played games that are in the library. I don't have much time these days and want to play AAA games and not some random indi games which arrive almost daily. there is a quantity, but its lacking quality.

      • +3

What you said is the reality. It's not worth it.

  • +1

For people buying them to use them later, I guess the catch is they could change the conversion rate. so its a risk.

    • +1

Another price hike next year? Not sure what Micro$oft is doing. Console price hike and GamePass subscription price hike around the same time. EB removed the XBox button on their home page. Apparently EB stores no longer have shelves dedicated to XBox games in store (need to ask staff to buy new XBox games apparently).

GamePass PC seems better since you still get Day 1 games, compared to GamePass Premium (need Ultimate to play Day 1 games for consoles). I am considering selling my Series X before it's too late.

      • +5

The Series X/S generation is over for MS basically. They’ve thrown in the towel for it and are focussing on getting Windows ready to power the next Xbox “console”. EB etc stopping selling Xbox’s is pretty much irrelevant because physical game sales are irrelevant even to Sony - game sales are like 90% digital already.

This is the start of the transition to more “open” hardware and Xbox being more of a third party publisher while also providing hardware options, mainly through OEM partners.

  • Cost me $5.80 with points, cheers

  • +2

I wish there was a way to do more than one at once, I've done 18 months so far but I'm getting really bored.

I'll regret it in 18 months though when I have to pay $19.45 a month to keep playing.

Edit: I put through so many transactions the bank locked my credit card thinking it was fraud.

    • lol. yeah the multiple transactions of the same thing over and over in a short time frame probably raises red flags.

Dumb on telstras part you can't just adjust the quantity in cart. Possibly has something to do with the points system though, who knows.

  • +3

This was a good reminder to burn some Telstra rewards points. Still a great deal without points though.
I've stacked up 12 months now.

    Thanks.

    • Me too, just added up to the end of next year!

  • +1

Hmm, anyone have issues with their Telstra Plus account no longer working because you don't have an active Telstra service attached?

    • Yes. I am facing the same

  • -1

Thanks OP, I had a heap of Telstra points to redeem so got 3x passes and will stock up on a few more.

  • Did this the morning with my telstra points

  • how long do these last?

    • Telstra email says there is no expiry, dont waste it all at once imo.

      • +2

They could easily change the conversion rate on gift cards. I wouldn't put it past them based upon this massive price hike.

I would redeem immediately - but that's just my opinion. Waiting potentially months/years to redeem just seems risky given the sweeping changes.

        • I also think it’s very likely the conversion rate will change for Ultimate. Ultimate got a much steeper increase than Premium, 50% compared to about 10%. 3 months of premiums now worth of 1.5 months of ultimate, so will not be surprised in the conversion goes from 2 months to 45 days or close to.

Old rates 3 months of premium was 2.08 months of ultimate, so very close to the current conversion rate and I think likely to change very soon.

At least redeem up to the allowed 3 years time now. If you want to risk it you can buy more, and redeem them every 2nd month.

  • I bought and redeemed 7 codes succesfully, then when trying to buy the 8th code I get this error on the Telstra Shop: Unable to process your order
There seems to be problem with your account. Please message us in 'Get Help'. Support code: RSFE001.

Maybe I've hit a limit? Chatting to support now but they aren't very helpful so far!

    • This would be a credit card issue. I had to do mine across 3 cards as they started to error out after a while as they think it's a fraudulent transaction.

      • +1

Thanks, I'll give it a go!

Edit: Thanks, that was the problem. Switched to a different card and it worked.

  • +1

Is this still avialable? was on the site but after logging in the website doesnt seem to load anymore.

EDIT: Nevermind, you need an active Telstra service to get this done which I don't have any more.

    • i have jack shit telstra service, i got it

    • No Telstra service, worked just fine

      • Wth!? Really.. ok let me try with just a new email.

    • You should get an email with each code you purchase.

      • took a while for it to arrive, thanks

        • Mine came on the page after checking out. I used points to pay though

Same when I paid by card. Instant delivery after checkout page

  • +2

Was going to stockpile, but probably safest to use straight away in case MS change the conversion rate…

    • Why would you ever stockpile vs redeeming all at once? What would the potential advantage be?

      • Eg if you don't play for a few months, not used

        • Got it

  • +1

bought it twice with only paying $5.80 on top, im good for 6 months, thanks

  • Is it gone? Got 1 earlier, and now keep getting error

  • I bought 3 lots, but when i try to redeem them and try turning off recurring subscription, i get an error. Then if i leave recurring subscription on it wants me to pay $19.45… anyone having this issue?

    • You redeem on microsoft.redeem…there is no option to turn on or off recurring sub at that site

      • Awesome I'll give that a go

  • Can you still get it for the $1? With xbox consoles seemingly going on clearance may consider getting one if it's cheap as chips.

  • +1

Bought two then it started saying Unable to process your payment.

EDIT: looks like it was aggressive westpac fraud detection blocking my card, all good now

  • -1

Ultimate pass getting fortnite crew from November is good value too. Fortnite crew in itself is normally $17.55 each month, these Telstra codes working out to $17.41 is less than the normal price of crew itself 🤯

I know fortnite isn't everybody's cup of tea, but that also includes rocket league pass as well for those that prefer rocket league :)

  • Thanks.

  • Seems broken, can't checkout, 401 and 431 errors

  • Years ago I went for one of the $1 deals through Telstra. When I went to subscribe with Microsoft after it lapsed I could not. Telstra said to contact Microsoft and Microsoft said they couldn't fix it because I was with Telstra. Neither could tell me when I'd be able to resub with Microsoft. Turned out it was 30 days. In other words at that time if you subbed with Telstra, you're locked in 30 days after it expires. Never again. Telstra can go fly a kite.

  • +2

glad I stacked 3 years yesterday when I assumed some dodgy things were afoot when they gave 1 days notice they were removing the redemptions via reward points

  • I am a bit confused.

Can I buy this and convert to 2 months game pass ultimate do I can play on console? And not pay anything extra.

    I don't currently have a subscription.
