    Anyone know what happened to the NBA Live franchise from EA?

    Last one of those was 19. I still much prefer the control and game play mechanisms on that game instead… but still no love after 2 years.
    Have they given up against 2K's offering?

          Eh around 2009 - 2013/14 2K really progressed with some amazing gameplay and started stomping EA's offerings to the point NBA Live disappeared for a few years. This is when Take-Two really started doubling down and headed heavily to the heavens of microtransactions. EA tried to make a comeback, and the games actually had promise but haven't heard a peep since NBA Live 20 was cancelled. Never thought I'd be saying it about an EA game but really hoping they make another run at it to peg 2K back a bit.

            @MBix: it was nice having EA as a rival, made 2K actually work on the game besides a reskin + roster update each year… suddenly went downhill when they went heavy on the microtransactions which is probably when EA dropped out around 2015? I do remember from 08-12 or 13 there were decent changes but the last…. let's say 5 installments have been lazy roster updates and heavier microtransactions each time

              @edumacation: Yep game has gone dramatically downhill. Fun for some couch games 1on1 with mates, but beyond that it's just disgusting every menu splashed with crappy transactions.

      I think most people preferred 2k so it might not be a profitable product anymore for EA. To be honest, I stopped playing NBA Live around 2008 and I don't know anyone who has played NBA Live in the past 5 years. Microtransactions is annoying in 2k though

        I just hate that the single player My Player mode is so heavily tied into the stupid shitty online world. I just want to be a dominant paint beast but no, I have to ride my (profanity) skateboard to a record store to get some coins so I can improve a little more than just playing games.

          OMG the micro-transactions… I forgot about them, yes 100%. That's another big reason I don't like 2K.

          Haha yeah. I remember a few years ago when joining the online community was just an option but not necessary. Now you needs it otherwise you end up having a horrible player (unless you pay for VC). I no longer pay full price for the game though I got 2k22 for PS4 at $39 about a week ago

    This PS5 version gives you a full PS4 digital code

    The PS4 disc version gives a full PS5 digital code.

    So, if you have a PS5 you probably want the PS4 version.
