    Would these be suitable for gaming? I know they are mainly used for music but I wouldn't mind grabbing a pair to use on my ps3 in addition to listening to music at home.

      The sound would be great, Isolation is good; some sound does come in but almost nothing leaks out: this is actually ideal IMO. This way any roomies or fellow occupants can't hear what you're listening to or playing, but you can still hear them complaining about your screen brightness before it gets to the surprise-thrown-pillow-to-head stage.

      The only trouble would be cable length. These are designed for portable use, so they don't have the long cable of a lot of other quality headphones designed for static home listening. If you can get a cable extension, or sit quite close to your TV/PS3, then these would be great. Otherwise, keep an eye out for cans with longer cables.

      Apart from no mic they are perfect, get an extension cord from your local asian junk shop for under $5 and you are good to go. They have excellent isolation and sound, without being boomy, but still have punch.

      Thanks dudes. Mic is no issue, just want something with good sound. Will adding an extension cord degrade the sound quality in any way? I did look at the 3.5m replacement cable for the HD25's but it is $110! lol, so I was considering just using an extension cord so if it doesn't affect sound quality I'll just use that.

      What's a good portable amp to use with these? (if it needs one). Not so much for home use but if I want to sue them on the go with my iPhone.

        You don't need an amp, Iphone is a great source.

        An extension cable shouldn't influence the sound unless it is very thin and the connections are garbage: this is highly unlikely, a cheapo will be fine. Some people will try to say "THE CABLES MEAN EVERYTHING!!!"; for these people it's solid silver, oxygen free unicorn hair OR NOTHING.

        Don't listen to them, their brains are playing tricks to justify the huge amount of money they have wasted on cables.

        apparently it's worth getting an upgraded replacement cable on the HD25 anyway. i never ended up ordering one before i lost mine, but supposedly custom cables will improve the sound quality significantly. a popular upgrade that a lot of people seem to have done (in addition to velour pads for comfort).

        you could get custom replacement cables and and ask for an extension cable to go with it. will cost quite a bit, but will probably give you even better sound.

        as i said, can't vouch for it myself, as i never got around to it. and you may be happy (as i was) with the stock cable anyway!

      Even if they weren't authorised, I'd still buy from Jaben [waiting to see if the Amperior can be heard anywhere instores first as compared to the HD25s], great prices for an Australian seller and excellent customer service.
      From previous experience, as long as you can a receipt from an authorised Sennheiser Dealer from anywhere in the world, Sennheiser Australia will honor the warranty (at least for me when I posted on their fb page :D)

          Why would I have Sennheiser HD228s from mymemory.co.uk and get it warrantied through Syntec in chatswood if I work for Jaben? :)
          Australian distributor for Sennheiser is Syntec, I know cause I wanted warranty ahaha

      Either the Go-Vibe Mini Box or the Hippo Pipe would be pretty good.
      The Pipe is smaller and bassier if that's your thing, whereas the Mini-Box sound "clearer" if that makes sense.

        firstly, that is a silly attitude. what difference does it make to you if Jaben matches the price for other people? how does it affect you if someone can buy it from djwarehouse OR jaben? if jaben doesn't match the price, people can still buy it for $150 from djwarehouse…so whether jaben also sells for $150 or not, it doesn't change the fact you paid $50 more than you could have today. you "lost" $50 either way, so there's absolutely no difference to you if someone wants to support jaben by buying from them instead of djwarehouse.

        fair enough, be annoyed that you paid $50 more…but don't be irrational about it.

        secondly, jaben offered previous buyers a refund when they dropped the price. IF they do match the price, who says you won't get the refund too? so in fact you could BENEFIT from jaben matching!

        pretty stupid attitude to have, if you ask me…

    Hey guys - long time reader first time poster. Ordered mine last night at $199 with a Hippo amp for $30 - must say, very impressed! As Jaben pointed out the Hippo definitely pushes the Bass side of things - I think I prefer the HD25's by themselves, but each to their own.

    It's not often I register for forums and actually contribute (I'm more of a leech.. ;) ) but Jaben's customer service was enough motivation for me to get through the registration process just to post my experience with these guys. I received an email within 15 mins of ordering asking if I had an address other than a PO Box as they can't express ship (courier) to PO Boxes and the order would take a few extra days to arrive, meaning I wouldn't get my toys before the long weekend. I gave them a street address, and the package arrived this morning! From ordering at 5pm (QLD time) last night to arriving at 8:30am in Maroochydore, QLD this morning is something I've never seen before!

    The guys handling enquiries are super friendly, and very prompt. While I can see a new deal has been posted at around $50 cheaper - it's worth considering the service you get with these guys as well as it makes up for atleast part of the difference. Seems Jaben are working on something else to bridge the gap anyway, but I'd definitely recommend these guys - along with what seems like the majority of people in this post.

    This is me disappearing into the background now (with my new HD-25's on and blasting), until next time I'm amazed/wowed with customer service. Keep up the good work OzBargainers so I can keep feeling good about buying sh*t I may or may not need for awesome prices!
