WTF Is It with Kogan? This Is My 3rd Attempt to Purchase Something, and Also My LAST

Good Christ!

Every attempt to purchase, thus far— turns to sh!t. I would like to buy from them, but its been chaos. At the moment, I cannot even log in (with the password in Lastpass I used previously), so I have ZERO access to even their help areas. You literally cannot access ANY help if the password is wrong (or they think it's wrong). They never send a code to the mobile nor do they send it to your email on file.

I ordered an item on 3 Dec. Money gone instantly. Receipt of order emailed. All good. Try to access tracking but, because everything points back to login, no dice. I even sent an email to their media dept. email, asking them to forward to the service people— nothing.

Just got an email from the seller— NOT Kogan, saying they would refund, which I never even asked about?

Done with Kogan. Just a vent, and a warning. Don't bother.

    Don't. Support. Dodgy. Kogan.

    You've been here long enough…

    • +2

They should be banned here, imho.

      • Agreed.

I really doubt it will ever happen.

Not matter how bad they are, how absolutely shiite their customer service is, folks still post Kogan deals here on OzBargain, some of which make it to the front page.

Fool me, you can't get fooled again

  • Seems that some people just take longer to learn lol

    • Definitely of …. is repeating the same thing expecting a different outcome.

  • …just made my first purchase with them this week
crazy amount of emails so far….turned that shit off in preferences

    • +2

anytime you purchase something from kogan you will automatically get re-subscribed to all that spam

  • +2

I have had completely the opposite experience. In fact… just kidding.

An anagram of “kogan vent” is K.V. negaton. Which isn’t very interesting, much like my comment.

  • +2

    Everyone knows Kogan is shit.
Also, dicksmith is Kogan. So assume shit also

    • +1

      Everyone knows Kogan is shit.

That’s a bit harsh. Even if an anagram of “Kogan fans unite” is “one fau stanking”

    Kogan
    This Is My 3rd Attempt

    This was your mistake.

    • +1

      This was your mistake.

This would be their third mistake :(

  • Lol… And the dozens of other “wtf is wrong with Kogan” posts on here didn’t turn you off before your first purchase, so you decided to dip in a few more times?

  • +3

Yeah, cant say I'm ever tempted by Kogan. Same stuff on ebay, generally cheaper and better customer service.

  • +2

Actually, everyone will forget and have a rush of blood to their trigger finger when the next irresistible deal comes along… and it always does…

  • I've bought several Kogan mobile sims, 2 x TVs, wine, a vacuum cleaner, a click clack sofa, a Google nest mini and more. I have found the service and delivery to be excellent. I've also been with Kogan Energy which is one of the cheapest. Yes you can be deluged with emails but these are easy to customise or switch off. I recently changed electricity company mainly because I was telemarketed and thought it was time to give another retailer a try and I will probably switch mobile supplier because the market is now so competitive, but the anti Kogan whinge fest here is just pathetic. My dealings with JB have not been perfect. I bought a refurbished TV from JB Hi-Fi that arrived with a cracked screen on delivery. They replaced the TV but I had make a noise to get them to refund the original delivery fee. OK, that's my 2c worth in the interest of balance.

Similar experience here - about 60 items purchased,, including 4 TV's, 2 vacuum cleaners, white goods, manchester, tools, phone, groceries… even a trailer wheel.

Every purchase was because their price was competitive, every product has been acceptable quality and nothing has failed.

The only glitch I recall was a faulty fan (not their own brand) which they replaced easily and refunded without much effort when that was also faulty.

Given the poor opinion of them on here, perhaps I'm just unfeasibly lucky?

Easy to be impressed if you have a very low standard for quality I suppose?

    • Similar experience. I have bought from Kogan many times, including a number of TVs, and have never had a problem.

      • No problems, but needed to buy multiples of the same appliance lol.

I bought a Kogan microwave. Two months out of warranty the door mech broke with my dinner inside. Now I have to open it by sliding the microwave forward off the bench so I can slide a thin metal ruler up behind the door from underneath to unlatch the door catches. Oh and their photos were deceptive. I only bought it because their photos made it seem it didn't have a grill element in the roof. (Which makes them a pain in the neck to clean.) Unpacked it and surprise!

    • the anti Kogan whinge fest here is just pathetic.

Anyone could respond to that with something like "the Kogan fanboys are out again" with as much justification.

If you've had no problems with them, then good luck to you. But don't poor scorn on other people's experiences. Enough people DO have problems with them, and they have been named by Choice as one to avoid, and in trouble with the ACCC. These issues are not one-offs.

I am of course assuming you are not associated with them in any way…

"I would like to buy from them"

    here's where you went wrong.

They're still spamming me with text after I blocked them and deleted my account. Dodgy af.

  • Don't do it bought a charger with the free shipping deal and omfg the spam to my phone and email it's just not worth it, it also went from two days to 5 days dispatch now…

the first and last time I buy through these clowns

  • For the record, 1st purchase was a wrangle and a long wait w/back & forth emails, but eventually got the item.
2nd time, same as above, but item cancelled as "out of stock" and refunded (aggravating as it was a gift). Item was showing as "in stock" as I was being refunded, btw.
3rd time, was the tie-breaker and I/they lost.

Last time for Kogan— three strikes, you're out.

    • You should have bought a lottery ticket that week. Their microwave I bought is garbage. First the keyboard start button (most frequently used one) quickly looked like it had wrinkled glad wrap stuck on by a toddler using his snot. i.e. The clear layer is so thin that after a few weeks of presses a bubble appeared and quickly separated from the whole button. Absolute crap. Next a 4cm plastic edge at the top of the door cracked off because the door isn't aligned to close properly - was hitting against the oven body. Then… well, read my other comment above for the cherry on top - the door mech.

Mind you "good" brands have gone downhill too. We've always had poor quality products made in third world countries, but since China became the main source, "cheap and nasty" is the worst it's ever been. Imagine a $1300 convection microwave that lasts 3 years, needs repair with one week warranty left, then no more warranty and breaks down again 3 weeks later. FU panasonic! Used to recommend their stuff to everyone, but none of these companies seem to be about quality anymore. It's just get your $$$ knowing you'll probably buy from them again some time because they're ALL making stuff in the cesspool of manufacturing hades!
