This is for PC only, right? You should probably add that in the title

    • +8

      Should be

      STEAM, PlayStation, XBOX, Stadia

    • +3

I think I've read that its hitting free for all platforms.

      • Oh, that's awesome :)

    • -4

      cs go is better

      • +6

as battle royal, PUBG have better looting system and more "realistic" feel to it (e.g. gun clipping to the wall, tilt left and right, bullet drop etc)

as a shooter game in general, both sucks as there's way too many cheaters on both game, and you are almost guaranteed to meet a cheater or 2 every match in both this 2 titles.

as far as community goes CSGO community is more toxic(I guess that's partly because there's no public text based chat in PUBG)

as game mode goes these two are apples to oranges and can't be compared just like that.

      • About 6 months ago I tried CS GO. Didn't like it. Too commercialised. Picked up Counter Strike Source again - first time I've played CS in about 10 years. It's great. A small but active community on a couple of servers are still left over. Lots of fun.

    • +6

Many games have gone free to play and posted as a deal, even small steam titles eg1 eg2

Going from having to pay to not having to pay on every platform is a bargain to me.

    • Please go post your voice of reason on this Target deal too then

    • it's a change to the regular price

sounds like a deal to me

    • -1

30 downvotes? This is a weird response to a pretty neutral comment.

Certainly something to be excited about but this isn't a bargain.
      Not by a long shot

  • +27

    With even more cheaters?

  • +2

    pan

  • +9

I still regret paying $30 for the Xbox preview version when it was released.

    • +1

      Me too :(

    • +8

Me too. Absolute dumpster fire of a game.

  • +16

    Ah, 2017. Times were simpler…

  • +3

how's the PC player base for this in Australia?

    • +12

I'll be there when it goes free.

    • +5

It's ok - having played for 467 hours, it used to be better than it is now, but am still enjoying the game. Would recommend, especially if you have a squad.

    • +4

Feels like 90% bots on PC

      • -2

        Only when you're lower ranked

        • +4

You can't even get a ranked match in Aus

      • do they fill the servers with bots if there aren't enough players or do you mean cheaters?

        • AI bots

    • +2

weekends are best time to play. pretty much pointless playing mornings and weekdays.

    • +2

game's slowly dying in this region but you'll usually get games 6-10pm weeknights. I have 1,700 hours but these days I VPN to SEA servers.

    • who can tell. every game i've played has been filled with mostly bots. if you want to feel like a god then it's fun but otherwise yea na

  • +1

this will be a fun experience with all the extra cheaters now coming on board

  • +4

Full of cheaters for a while now.
    The anticheat does nothing.

    • -6

      VAC iS AcTuAllY GoOd

      • +4

        It doesn't use VAC…

        • +2

Additionally, VAC's purpose isn't to get every cheater, it's designed so that if you do get VAC banned, there is a near-100% chance that you were cheating (and valve generally undoes it if they make a mistake), unlike with some more aggressive anticheats where false positives are relatively common.

    • maybe u need to just get good and stop winging.

    • +3

Please don't use the F word, some people find it offensive.

  • +1

is this different to the free one that's on android? played a bit years ago
i don't get all the different companies who are behind this

    • Yep, a bit different. I think the core mechanics are pretty much the same, but the phone version is a bit more arcady

      • I've been meaning to play the phone one again, but now there's 4-5 versions. What do I want for just some relaxed play?

        • In not that deep into it, sorry. But PC would not be casual, relaxing fun that's for sure. Console similarly… Usually it's 15 mins running around collecting stuff, then your sniped 🙃

      • The mobile version is graphically simpler with a gambling engine that also had a baby with fortnight.

  • -1

When I input PUBG cheat into google, there are about 15,200,000 results shown within 0.50 seconds.

    • +9

I got 211,000,000 results (0.52 seconds) for "birds aren't real" in google.

  • +1

Already in your account if you had PS+ in September 2020. I’ll stick to Fortnite.

  • +13

Easily one of the best games that was out at the time of release, for the first few months.

    Then came the Chinese.
No point playing this game online, but yeah maybe add it to your library if you can gather 100 people to play custom games with for shits and giggles.

    • So, if I want to get a 'supporting tool kit' for this FREE game, do I need to learn Chinese first? or do they have an English version?

    • Ahh good times. If I saw a large group of players wearing red shirts I knew they were Chinese players playing as a team…

  • hilariously yesterday I was thinking of buying this after just being over BF2042 already. Wait I will!

  • Sweet! Hope the australian ping is good.
The mobile version has trash ping.

  • Shit game full of glitches and memes

Will only play if they pay me millions

    • -1

Agree, game is a pile of shit

  • +1

This is the only game I've played where I enjoyed the beta more than the full release game…

  • +4

As usual with PUBG decisions over the years, it takes a special kind of genius management that us mere mortals simply cannot comprehend to announce a game is going Free to Play in early December, but then actually skip the time when people are most free to play the game, during Christmas period and New Years, to attract new players who are sitting at home willing to test/play games they haven't previously tried.

    • Yeah, I guess they thought it was fine to ignore everyone's complaints and griefs when the money was flowing in.
But now it's a dead game compared to Apex and Fortnite. Bluehole should just enjoy their Chinese Hacker playerbase.

  • +1

I'm not understanding the process to get the free PUGB. It seems I need to sign up with a Krafton account and link it but you need the game already installed in your system for you to link the Krafton ID (According to the guide)??

  • Free as in it'll be free to play forever or free as in game goes on sale free then goes back to normal price?

    • Says in description.

  • -2

    Free*

    • $29.95 purchase required to obtain the “Press any button to start” feature
  • There's really not that many cheaters, but you will see the same Level 500 usual suspects online that I reckon most of the complainers are calling cheaters because they're getting rekt.

    • +3

Well the cheater problem was really bad before and most have given up on hoping the devs fix it. Once Chinese gets into your game=gg

    • +1

When a lot of people quit, the game was packed full of very obvious cheaters. If they haven't been able to detect almost all of the cheaters now, no doubt when the game goes f2p, it will be filled with cheaters again.

  • +1

Been playing PUBG heavily on PC for a few years (4k+ hours) and still having lots of fun. I play Aus servers between 7 to 10pm for better ping games and then VPN to Asia when I want more variety and less bots. Cheaters are still an issue but is not too bad and its easy to report obvious hackers quicky (I often get the ban report within the same night). It does however have a high barrier of entry as most current players are veterans and new players won't have much of a chance.

I am hoping there will be a large influx of new players to breathe new life into the game and hopefully dilute the number of level 500 players in tight squads.

  • +1

PUBG is not the game it was even a year ago. It has so much new stuff in it now that it's a completely different experience. If more people came back and tried it they would probably realise it's still the best BR and stay.

  • -1

Lol, dead game. Who is still playing this game?
Try Naraka guys 😁 same type of playing.

    • +2

Naraka is dead too, the only difference is PUBG was actually alive at some point.

    • @Lee B P are you really associated with the pubg studios?

  • I actually like PUBG. I play it on Xbox. All this talk of bots…..how do you know who is a bot and who is a real player?

  • PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds: Battlegrounds

  • +2

I think I'll just wait for the new Call of Duty: Rittenhouse.

    • I'm not usually a fan of preorders, but I've placed my order for the Commie Pedophiles Must Die edition.👍

  • Does this change have any impact to the mobile game? Can I get all those things for free now, that previously I would have had to pay for?

  • +2

I look forward to playing Player Unknown's BattleGrounds: Battlegrounds.

  • Can't believe I paid for this game before. Never even played it.

  • Actually rekon this will be fun for a while, obliterating noobs is way more fun that the current bot filled matches :P

    • gotta be more fun than BF2042 which after last night im done with, just had enough

    • No fun at all for me when you easily eliminate a noob. Lots of fun in single mode if you play around with an old fox and finally take over him. Will dance after that.

  • Nice! Save the cheaters more money to upgrade their tools to a new level! Well done!

  • +1

Ah the game when you loot all the way until you're in the final 5-10, then start getting sweaty palms while prone in the grass, silencer attachment on

Good times before West Taiwan invaded the server

  • wtf says its closed already

    no registration lootie for daddy?

    • +1

just head straight to steam its free, no need to regist

      • no i wanted the freebies

        • Are the freebies worth it, may have expired now.
May just head to steam, no need to sign up for a KRAFTON ID?

  • My 4 year old will love this! He can't wait to play with the other 4 year old kids.

    • Seriously? 4 years can play this game?

  • this or Warzone?

    • none :0

  • +1

Paid for it on release and it ran like absolute balls, similarly to the the way it looks. A friend of mine plays it regularly and it's basically bots until the top 10 players.

When Fortnight came out it showed how badly PUBG failed to utilize the Unreal Engine and make a smooth game. Then Warzone came out and that was in another league entirely.

  • Can't believe I bought this crap way back when.

  • Any difference between PUBG and PUBG: Battlegrounds? I've only played PUBG.

    • +1

      They just renamed it
      PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds Battlegrounds lol

  • Oh, neat! I wanted to play it at its height but wouldn't buy it for $80. I hope it is a fun game now it's FTP. Like, TF2 at its height type fun.

(I severely doubt it, but - you never know!)

    • I still play TF2 lmao. Plz give heavy update valve
