    Agreed. Totally unpalatable. Instant coffee these days are a hot mess. Big $$ for bleh tasting mud water.

      Couldn't agree more. In 2019 I discovered and loved Nescafe Gold Rich #4 but it was soon discontinued. Coles had a house brand freeze-dried coffee in a tall jar that I quite liked - and it was often half-price - but they discontinued it a few months ago. Coles Organic Fairtrade Gold is tolerable, a bit like how Moccona #5 used to be. Nature's Cuppa is very nice but super pricey.

      Do you have any recommendations?

  I agree, it isn't quite what it used to be like. I've actually switched to their espresso blend.

  As an aside, I don't know if it's really because it's gone down in quality, or because my palate has been spoiled by admittedly excellent coffee that we can get at cafe's. Also, nowadays, café purchased coffee feels more like an everyday thing rather than the luxury that it was when I was growing up. Thankfully, my wallet is safe because I'm leery at splurging $5 for something I can make on my own for cents.

  However, there are things I'm not keen to go back to. I recently tried coffee from a percolator just like I used to drink ages ago and felt it was pretty damn bad.
