      excludes QLD

Should be excludes WA. It's imported…

      • National News Live
WA reclassifies NSW as ‘extreme risk’ after coronavirus case surge
The reclassification removes WA Police discretion to allow West Australians currently in NSW to return to the state, apart from in extraordinary circumstances.

    • Apparently in Queensland you can buy alcohol online but 30% (by dollar value) of the order has to be non-alcohol items. Not sure why Coles and Woolies don’t allow this.

  • +3

    Temporarily unavailable

  • Comes to $162 delivered in Victoria…

    • Apply both coupons. COLLECT10 will give an additional $10 off for CnC.

      • thanks

  • Signed up to Coles but doesn't appear I can order alcohol. Is there an extra step I need to do?

    • maybe age restriction assuming you are not in an excluded from deal state

      • I've added my date of birth, address is in VIC. Had the issue url was broken unless I opened it in incognito mode. Signed in but says not available in my location. Strange

        • Some pick up area exclude liquor. Choose another location or use PC to show the details

  • Liquor is not available for delivery or collection at this time

    • +1

Try after 4pm or other locations

  • placed an order, thanks Op! Let's see if it goes thru to be finalised at 8am tomorrow.

Does it go well with Coke?

    • +5

Must be nice being able to drink it with coke, home brand cola is all we can afford.

    • +12

Same old joke every single time in one of these threads. Without fail.

      • +2

This and the other great one: 'thx OP bought 400'

      • Same old crank having a yell at the sky too.

    • +25

Nah, no point ruining a perfectly good coke with this

Biggest disappointment I have ever drank

    • +7

      Could not agree more.

Can get a much better scotch for much less.

      • +1

        any recommendations?

        • Glenrothes 12 is a personal favourite and to die for. Can usually get it for just under a hundred.

      • Yeh the green/gold labels are both great for $70 - $99.

    • +3

Agree. It's okay but no way is it worth what it costs - even with this discount.

Johnnie Walker is living proof that great marketing works.

      • -2

        But it makes fantastic gifts!!

  • Nah bring me JOHNNIE WALKER KING GEORGE V

  • Dans have price dropped to $179.95 per bottle

  • +7

JW Green is better imo, this is overpriced badly.

But yeah, do yourself a favour and look into single malts around $100-$120. Some absolute gems that blow away any JW blend.

    • +2

Any suggestions? I do like the Glendronach.

      • +3

Not too familiar with that one, but I will have to check it out.

Some favs of mine are Aberlour, Laphroiag, Ardbeg 10 and Lagavulin 16.

        • Mmmm. Someone else likes Isla malts

    • +1

Yeh any recommendations for scotch beginner?

      • +4

If you are a total beginner I would probably avoid the peated stuff like Ardbeg and Lagavulin, at least at first.

Try a Glenfiddich 12 (fabulous everyday kinda scotch), Aberlour or a Glenmorangie. All of those are very easy on the palate.

        • i had a glenfiddich 12 with 2 ice cubes recently. Tasted really thin and weak. Is this one better straight?

          • +1

@andresampras: Most of the whisky youtube channels they drink straight and then add just a small amount of water - 5ml (teaspoon) max

            • @Belch: yeah but with JW black for example, i much prefer it with a cube of ice. I guess it all depends on personal preference

      • +2

Auchentoshan three wood is pretty good

      • +2

I recommend Highland Park, a very balanced whiskey that has a bit of everything for you to notice. Don't have it with ice, add half a teaspoon of water if you want to take some of the fire out of it. Also worth letting it sit for a little to let the air open it up…take your time and enjoy it.

        • Agree, Highland Park is very accessible, yet complex enough to make in interesting

        • are 10 years or 12 years worth taking a sip or need to go up to 18yrs+? I can see there a big price gap.

          • +1

@khmerunited: I've only tried the 12, but I really liked it. It'll probably be the next bottle I pick up, especially that cool viking looking one.

      • +2

        Glenmorangie Original

      • If you have a slightly sweeter tooth - go for any scotch from the Speyside region (there are five "regions"of whiskey distillerys in Scotland)
Avoid the peaty or smoky scotch from the Islay or Highlands
Second region to choose from is the Lowlands - bit lighter in taste
Although each region has its wide variance, there is a bit of generalisation.

As for single malts - cant go wrong with Craggenmore, Glenfarclas

        • Highland isn't smokey. Highland is very clean.

      • +1

Japanese whisky is very approachable and is ideal for starting to develop a palate.

        • As is Australian whisky - Hellyer's Road is fantastic

    • -1

      Blue = smooth, clean, cool

Green = complex, peaty, warm. It’s like the “craft beer” of JW

  • Can not check out. Tried paypal and credit card. $150 NSW.

  • Temporarily unavailable

  • Not available in my location

  • So much better for less money out there.

  • +1

Has anyone tried blending all the JW ranges together?

    • Thats JW rainbow label. Expect to pay around $1000 for that.

  • Rough AF

  • Can confirm still in stock at Fairfield NSW as of 8:18PM AEST

For the item not available/(Page missing) - create a coles account and verify it with SMS. After you enter your DOB (18+) it'll let you see the alcohol section.

    • I had one ordered for pickup today but they've just cancelled it.

  • +1

Managed to get a bottle on the Central Coast, NSW. This is a bit like a bottle of champagne, it's worth trying to see what the fuss is about, but best to try when someone else is paying. I prefer Islay single malts and my general goto is the Lagavulin 16. Blended whiskies tend to have the key flavour nuances "balanced" into relative obscurity which detracts from much of the pleasure of having a whisky.
I have bought this for my friends to taste so they don't feel tempted to buy it themselves. Thanks for the post.

  • you could add bonus flybuy points to get even more discount..

    • I got flybuys points, how can I do that ? Ty!

        • oh! I missed applying the 'CLICK10' as a first user, could have saved another $10.

    • that for first time users only?

  • How does this compare to the similarly priced Johnnie Walker XR?

  • +2

Got it for $142 with CLICK10

  • Manage to update my order and add click10 ! Woo!

  • Works with Double black and black label as well. Ordered 2 each of them and bought it for 169$ . Thanks OP!

  • blue label sold out :(

    • try a different suburb for click and collect, i was able to find it at a 3rd suburb

  • Got one for delivery in NSW

  • $142!
Don’t drink it myself but a good gift for someone.

    Anyone tried multiple accounts?

    • I just did and it worked bot the second one at $142 ( first one at $152) with the CLICK10

  • Blue is pretty good, but I don't think it justifies the price. Green is less than half price and just as tasty.

    • Where is Green under $71 ?

  • Thank you bot one…$152 is pretty cheap

  • "Temporarily unavailable" for me :(

  • I ordered one for pickup but they cancelled it.

  • Edit

  • Order cancelled! Thankyou Coles

  • Picked one up. The shame is real..

  • Cancelled order and now its temp unavailable..

  • I couldn't place any subsequent orders due to an error on their side, requiring me to ring IT who closed at 1900hrs. I lost out.
