  • Not Aussie plug I assume.

    • Based on the video, it has a CN plug which is an upside down AU plug.

  • At what point do we make the distinction between "power strip with usb charging" and "usb charger with power outlets"?

The actual listing and this deal seem to be on two different sides of the fence. :P

  • +3

This looks really good but damn that price.. might bite later when it comes down.

    • and is it even a "deal" given the price?

  • How clean is the power output on these? I want to buy one for the price, but also nervous about charging things like an expensive Macbook off them if the PD isn't clean.

    • like an expensive Macbook off them if the PD isn't clean.

What would happen if not clean?

      • +7

        It would be dirty…

      • Tends to cause issues with PSU's/Battery wear. Same as an iPhone plugged in with a crappy cord/charger, the battery wear and change of mainboard failure is higher.

        • +2

?? How do you get dirty DC power?

Maybe power has changed since I did elec eng?

          • @M00Cow: I know people with good expensive sound system, speakers, etc. they will spend $1000 for a powerboard XD

          • @M00Cow: Used to work in a phone repair store, seen plenty of dead phones come in and almost always powered by dodgy cables/chargers if not liquid damaged.

Outlets that take CN style plugs (AU plug reversed)

So the Active and the Neutral are the wrong way around?

    • It's Type I like ours, their sockets are upside down with earth on top. I've found some stuff difficult to plug into the China sockets, I think our prongs are slightly larger.

      • -4

their sockets are upside down with earth on top

It also means the active and neutral will plug in the wrong way…

        • +2

How so, if it's the type I plug it's the same as ours, our plugs are not reversable.

Their sockets are just upside down, or maybe ours are upside down as we are in the southern hemisphere, heck I bet their toilets even flush the other way.

Can you imagine the medusa look of this device with all the cables attached!

  • +2

Dropping down to 45W when another device is plugged in is a bit disappointing. My laptop doesn't see. To like charging under 60W. Would have expected a tad more for $75.

Also why on earth didn't they use a figure 8 cable!?

    • Yes, that rules out the latest Surface devices - the SP7 onwards all need 65W, the thirsty buggers. I have an SP6 which would work, but given I'll upgrade in the next couple of years and the high price here, I'll pass.

I doubt this is actually an ugreen product?

not available from aliexpress or ugreen website.

  • I've been looking for a GaN charger with at least 2 each type C & type A with QC 3.0 minimum for the type a & with the type C I want to be able to charge a phone and tablet which I think is likely to be a tab s7+ and phone currently is S10+ but I'm likely to upgrade in the next year. Does anyone have the expertise to explain what I need or even if it'll be possible to have 3-4 devices charging at the same time. The type As will mostly be charging headphones or a 10w Qi charge mat as well as my current S10+ but as I said my new phone will likely need a C to type C with fast charging(increased wattage).
Thanks for any info guys & sorry to put my personal request in a product thread but I figure there will be ppl who have already done the research looking here. Tx :)

    • Do you have size requirements? There are a few chargers that can output 130+ watt total across multiple ports. Hyper juice and omega are some smaller companies that come to mind, but I'm sure anker and other more recognisabke brands do it too.

  • I think 45w will be more than enough for the 2x type C ports & 18/20w should be enough for the 2x type a ports.
So I guess theoretically that should mean max load of (2x 45w) + (2x 20w) = 130watts assuming the amps are consistent?
I'll never use it for a laptop at least in the foreseeable future.
I've seen a couple of premium options but they cost $100+ so I guess I'm hoping for a decent option from one of these Chinese companies/grey imports hopefully $40-$50 at most but maybe that's wishful thinking?

    • I believe it's 65wax for the entire unit. You've doubled your values. Unless I'm missing something here…

  • Well there are 2usb ports and 2usb a ports so I'm just adding the requirements together but you may be correct as in its not possible to have that many ports from a single wall socket?

    • My understanding of usb pd (not the newer 3.1 protocol) is that it has a max value of 100w for a single usb c port. There are some higher performing chargers that advertise 130w or 150w, dual 100w for a nice 200w number. However, in those cases, the usb c port is still Max 100w. If the charger has multiple ports (however many there are), there will be a predetermined allowance of power going through, depending on what combination of ports are in use.

  • Description is misleading. It doesn't do 65w out of one port let alone "Dual 65W USB-C PD". It's 65w total with 45w max out of one port.
