How to tie down 12V Fridge?

Trying to solve the problem of how to tie down my 40l 12V fridge because it's too big for the back and only fits on the rear seat.

From each handle I'm thinking to run a strap down to the seat belt lap band and another up to the anchor used by baby car seats (will take anchor clip off an old car seat for the straps to thread through).

By using four straps like this the fridge should be okay?

Had thought about adding mounting brackets to seat/seat belt bolts but fear this will void ADR compliance or result in snapped bolts.

Thanks everybody.

oh, or put it behind the passenger seat & push the passenger seat back as far it will go (and tilt it backwards too)

      • But but but where would the co-pilot sit … :)

    • Camry sedan & fridge is cff45. Very strong ratchet strap.

  • As above, pics would help, car seat and fridge…

I'd pop the back seat out and see if there's any brackets under it you can loop some webbing strap through, if so, loop some decent webbing strap or old seat-belt strap through them and tie the ends together (protect the strap with rubber or such if the brackets have sharp edges), then have these loops of strap hanging out between the base and the back of the backseat, or at the side of the seat, so you can then easily connect your tiedown straps to them…

    • Camry sedan & fridge is cff45. Interesting idea, I'll need to have another look at the seat. Thanks.

How permanent? I’ve used a seatbelt to hold stuff down on the back seat plenty of times, particularly CRT monitors.

the old console / halo parties :)

    • Temporary install, only when required. Day trips and such.

I remember CRT monitors, their design made it easy to use a seat belt to hold them in place.

  • Roof rack time maybe?

    • Thanks for the suggestion but I'd like to keep things inside. Have never seen roof racks on a Camry.

  • anti slip mat with seat belt should be good enough.

    • Thanks, never thought about incorporating anti slip mats.

  • What car is it going on?

    • Camry sedan.

  • On my old Camry the loop that held the buckle was large enough to easily put the hook of a tie down strap through it.
How is the buckle affixed in a newer Camry?
