2 good reviews from early in the year, and 2 bad reviews from later in the year, hmmm, I don't think I'll risk it…

    • There are 3 good reviews and a bad review, I think most people don't leave feedback.

  • Not great reviews… For the price though.. Amazon will probably happily refund if defective

I tell you my expeirence from this guy.

    1. shipped from Sydney, so it's not oversea retailler.
2.shipped with a nomal australia post letter bag, no tracking number available, thus, depends on your luck.
    2. it do have C tick , however, there's no number associate with it, so it might not SAA Approved.
    3. works for a while before it having problems, I puchased two, one last for around 4 months, another one currently using, but not work for my iphone cable anymore (sumsung still work)
    • That's because it's Apple.
      Not approved power.

    • it do have C tick , however, there's no number associate with it, so it might not SAA Approved.

      false advertisement?

Its the RCM. If you have one of these no need for a an approval number. Similar to what CE mark does in Europe.

      • +3

There's a certification number (SAA-201450-EA) in a pic supplied by a reviewer on the amazon page.

However, there are irregularities. The certificate is for a charger that's different to the one shown by the reviewer (model SDC-20W), and, based on the pics from the registered supplier (http://bditech.com.au/product_detail.aspx?id=2019), the one being sold here has different ports to the certified model (SDC-18WACB).

On the face of it, it looks like the certification doesn't cover the model being sold here.

Note that Australian electrical safety requirements are different from CE requirements. For power supplies such as this one, you need to have the device certified by a test lab, and that certification needs to registered with EESS.

        • I didn't go into it it in that much depth as I was only reply regarding the C-Tick remark and how RCM has / is meant to replace the approval number (NSW is an issue) to make it similar to CE mark in europe but with the in scope safeguards to stop false self declerations as per CE mark. As for the power supply itself it doesn't fall into in-scope electrical equipment (https://www.eess.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/EESS-Insc…).

Not knowing the full details what does happen is one design of charger will be approved and then manufacturers buy this design and produce their own chargers or just buy the original and use their own model numbers. Usually the approval needs to be updated with the new model initial approval needs all the models listed. Thsi doesn't always happen as approval providers like SAA, SAI etc etc charge a fee for this and not everyone wants to pay.

      • Anyone can download the files necessary to mark a product with the RCM: https://www.acma.gov.au/step-5-label-your-product#download-the-rcm

This is why there are processes for verifying compliance and the approval (certificate) number is one way of proving your product is actually compliant, rather than just something you've slapped the RCM on.

And for a lot of these overseas manufactuers/suppliers, there is little incentive for them to field the cost of compliance, since there is little the government can do to them. Some of them are smart enough to know to put an RCM on their product.

  • I bought these a few weeks back for a pixel 6 and pixel 6 pro.. both show the same behavior of charging on and off for about 10-15sec.. then they seem to charge fine throughout the night.. not sure if its the pixels working out the max wattage, or its the charging brick themselves. i use all kinda of chargers @ work, in the car and its the only charger that shows that kind of behavior..
