              @Fooah: Ok, tho as we know free epic/pc posts are quite lucrative when it comes to updoots, which result in some nifty benefits.

              There always will be big competition for these post,

              Guess what I'm trying to say that DB and TA will sort it out between them selfs/mods. No need to create drama out of this. If anything sit back and enjoy the show.

    Visually stunning game - was blown away when it released several years ago and it still holds up very well. Plays out like a simple investigative walking simulator with supernatural themes. Not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it.

      Yeah really different wasn't it? I love puzzle type games but this was felt more like a puzzle game for engineers (super detailed and exact/unforgiving). Very clever though

    When you claim this game you will get two versions in your Epic Library.

    1) The Vanishing of Ethan Carter (2014 original using Unreal Engine 3)
    2) The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux (2015 remastered update ported to Unreal Engine 4)

    To determine what edition of the game is in your library. Click install. You will then see TheVanishingofEthanCarter or TheVanishingofEthanCarterRedux as part of the default install directory. Noting which version will be installed.

    Is it just me, or is this freebie not currently available in the Epic Games Store? Seems like the next one opens up in a bit over 3 hours. Any known reason for the delay?

    i remember playing this game almost 10 years ago. You can't make manual saves and the auto saves are very sparsely spaced. I got lost and didn't know where to go after about 3 hours. Since there was no way to save, I just quit, assuming it would auto save. Turns out I didn't trigger an auto save checkpoint yet. So after all that, I had to start from the beginning again. I of course didn't bother and never touched the game again.

    I blame myself for not knowing it was a walking sim before I bought it.

      Saving was the main problem with the original release of the game. The new Redux version offers a new and improved save system.

      The original UE3 version saved only entire solved areas. This was not the worst solution imaginable for this particular game but it was confusing. Now the game simply saves the state of the whole world right after most player actions, so you can exit the game at any time and when you come back the world will be restored as expected.

          Both. See my comment above. for those who own or claimed the free game. Redux edition was also released as a free update for previous owners of the game.
