  • S&S and delivery 23rd Dec. Winning.

    • Their delivery times have really improved

  • +1

    Thanks op

  • I thought it was tanning oil :|

Mine said Jan 11th til Feb 1st

  • Nice pick up thanks!

  • No S&S option for me? Anyone else?

  • -7

Sun is good, Sunscreen is bad

    • Hard to beat the price, but quality?

ALDI is they do a sunscreen, I would trust as they generally use major manufacturers to create their products.

      • +4

What is there to worry about with quality? I have always used the 1L SPF50 Coles brand and I only ever get burnt through my own negligence of forgetting or missing spots.

Unless you have specific allergies I am pretty sure expensive sunscreen is a scam.

        • I wouldn’t say that cheap = bad however tests do show dramatic differences between brands.

IIRC BB were one of the best.

      • Kmart don't manufacture their sunscreen either, they usually use a large manufacturer

big w has them, as amazon is saying 1-2 month wait now, https://www.bigw.com.au/product/banana-boat-ultra-spf-50-sun…

  • Anyone used these before? What's the sunscreen performance like? Is it greasy?

    • +1

just buy whatever has the uva and uvb coverage and is liquid, not aerosol. alcolesworth all have 'home brand' good quality sunscreen at affordable prices.

  • thanks brought some for stocking up

    • They're all SPF50, what's the diff?

      • +1

I have no idea, but it looks like the "Ultra" is heavy duty and sweat resistant (?), the "Everyday" contains some hydrating formula with Aloe and Vitamin E and the Kids one is hypoallergenic and it "won't run into eyes" whatever this means…

  • +2

Given Banana Boat's past issues with product control I'll give this a big miss.

    • What/when we're the issues? I hadn't heard of any issue.

I use their sports one as my standard for hiking or working outdoors. It seems to work for me. Like any sunscreen apply prior to leaving air conditioning, let it dry, and it works for hours.

      • I vaguely recall some ppl having their skin burnt due to some issue with a batch..

      • There was this and this, both from several years ago.

        • Ah thanks - the aerosol sunscreens are asking for trouble. People massively under-apply sunscreen with the aerosol options - applying a quantity as if it were aerogard. I apply sunscreen like a farmer — slop on a handful with both hands like you're washing your face.

Consumers demanded a dumb product and Banana Boat provided. A bit dishonest of all the aerosol sunscreen manufacturers - they would have known how little people apply in practice compared to the amount applied in testing.

  • Bought this one for my kiddo. Thanks op.

Banana Boat's sunscreens works well but they stained my white clothes.

Took me a while to figure it, checked online and it's common.

Banana Boat varieties are all a scam.

Banana Boat Ultra Sunscreen Lotion ingredients
    Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane 5.00% w/w, 4-Methyl - benzylidene Camphor 4.00% w/w, Octocrylene 2.00% w/w Bemotrizinol 1.00% w/w, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxybenzoates

Guess what Banana Boat Kids Sunscreen is
    Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane 5.00% w/w, 4-Methyl - benzylidene Camphor 4.00% w/w, Octocrylene 2.00% w/w Bemotrizinol 1.00% w/w, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxybenzoates

So it's not really out of stock- just get the the kids one with the yellow bottle- Exactly the same https://www.amazon.com.au/BANANA-BOAT-KIDS-400G-SPF50/dp/B07…

Actually don't get any Banana Boat variety as they stain your white clothes orange.

I now get the Aldi 1L 50+ sunscreen.. works well. The kids don't complain. It's inexpensive.

    • Yeah i saw aldi one the other day for 4.50 or 5 bucks? Good deal.

      • For 500ml?

        That's pretty decent.

As long as your skin doesn't react to it (or stain your clothes) 50+ is effective as each other.

I prefer cheaper ones as I slather it on the kids without a care of the cost.

My wife once bought some special ones for our kids, $100 for like 150ml. I was so careful using it, I probably didn't put enough on the kids. Haha

I've tried many sunscreens incl Aldi and the one I listed works better for me. I'm in qld, swim daily and work outside on my small farm for a few hours each day.
I feel and look less burnt at the end of the using the BB ultra than regular BB in the orange bottle.

    • 'I feel and look less burnt at the end of the using the BB ultra than regular BB in the orange bottle.'

      The difference is purely physiological.

Compare the ingredient of BB ultra - https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B077K9X5MS and BB Sport https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B077K4HCYT/

      BB ultra - Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane 5.00% w/w, 4-Methyl - benzylidene Camphor 4.00% w/w, Octocrylene 2.00% w/w Bemotrizinol 1.00% w/w, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxybenzoates
      vs
      BB Sport - Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane 5.00% w/w, 4-Methyl - benzylidene Camphor 4.00% w/w, Octocrylene 2.00% w/w Bemotrizinol 1.00% w/w, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxybenzoates

Banana Boat Kids Sunscreen is also identical. But of course parents feel better buying a kid's version for their toddler lol.

Don't take my word for it, take Banana Boat's.

Same marketing for Napisan Whites and Napisan for Colours. Same shit. Different colour packaging.

      • Yes it is a physiological not psychological difference, glad you agree 😄
You've listed SOME of the ingredients, it may well be the reason ultra works better for me is that it stays on my skin longer or is more sweat resistant than the sport one due to difference in blending or other unspecified components not included in the active ingredients.

  • bought two and will give it a go.

    • +1

Aerosols only recalled, still alarming though.

      • almost cancelled my order…wasn't sure if it's aerosols only or all SPF 50+
