    What kind of machines?

This book pops up a lot here and i'll upvote it every time. This machine learning book is legit excellent. I recently finished a Data Engineering course at uni and this book is basically a better taught version (a little less depth) of my data mining subject. And a hell of a lot cheaper.

Always said I won't ever read/need it but this time I bit the bullet. Hopefully I don't regret my impulsive purchase!

  • Thanks OP

  • seen people do some crazy things with these.. the new cheats that are coming out for FPS games, while detestable, are ingenious. They run a capture card, grab the output and feed it into ML, then the ML will send inputs into the mouse on what it saw.

Nothing is run locally that way, so human review or votekicking is basically required.

    • what is ML?

Big subject but I'll have a go at a simple answer.

One branch of Machine Learning involves using data with known outcomes to train a model to predict unknown outcomes.

So for example if you have a set of data about historical orphan adoptions in Brazil (eg age, income, religion, socioeconomic, etc etc) and which resulted in a successful/unsuccessful match of parents and children you can produce a model which can accurately predict the chances of success for any two given parties. You don't need to know which factors have the biggest influence.

The above is a real example of a successful ML implementation.

This will come in handy for when the machines attack and send out Terminators
