Travel Insurance When Travelling to India in Jan

Travelling to India in Jan. Just wondering if anyone recommends traveling insurance which covers for Covid type scenarios.

What insurance provider do you recommend which covers for Covid?

  • Is this a trick question?

    • Actually my fault. I was actually looking for recommendation of insurance provider. I have updated the post :)

  • Depends on premium and coverage and exclusions.

  • Your credit cards may already have it as a benefit. Check them.

I'm pretty sure that complimentary insurance provided by (most) credit cards does not cover any Covid-19 related scenarios. But worth checking with your credit card provider, OP!

All credit card insurance clearly state that they do not cover any covid related claims.

Cover more seems to be the only option at the moment.

        • Fair point - Still, OP, check your credit cards for non-covid travel insurance regardless. If you do have it, at least you'll be covered under other scenarios.

          • @tallkid123: That is true. You should still definitely activate your card travel insurance as they provide other benefits.

  • Nah yeah….

  • Covermore have insurance that covers everything except border closures. We're going overseas as well in Jan, that's what we went with. Expensive though

    • Thanks. I'll check it out

  • My Latitude 28 degrees card was advertising complementary travel insurance including covid cover for the next few months … I don't know if it's a general or targeted offer

    • You have to spend $1000 on flights though

      • I dont think flights (return, two way) will cost anything less than $1000 AUD to begin with

        • Yeah, but you’re also assuming OP hasn’t booked their flights already (I assume they have)

  • No, but yes.

Seriously though, some airlines have covid insurance options during checkout.

  • it's absolutely mind boggling why people want to travel during the pandemic. you have a 100% chance of catching covid.

    • I think at some point either the virus will die out or everyone will get it. Those two seem the only logical options.

    • That was certainly my first thought, but keep in mind that some families have been separated by water for a long time and it's been very painful. I'm certainly in that boat (pardon the pun) and I'm trying my darndest to be patient with this ever-changing situation.

  • Looks like covermore is the only option. I couldn't find anything else

  • How did you go? Which cover did you end up getting?

    • Cancelled the trip. But it seemed Covermore was the only option.
