      • I use the thorne brand d/k2 which is high quality. 2 drops of thorne gives me 1000iu of D and 200mcg of k2 and i take an additional 5000iu of D from the cheaper brand i posted above. I don't do all thorne because i don't want to take more k2 than i need. Thorne is expensive but lasts ages if you only do 2 drops a day.
Can't attach links as ozb is letting me

we are in australia get some sunshine. vitamins suck and cause imbalances and toxicity.
if your still keen to take it make sure it has k2 with it else you will get calcium buildup in the wrong places

So does lack of vitamin D.
With more people working from home (myself included), it's harder to get some sunshine.

You don't have doors at your house?

    • +1

Sunshine doesn't work for everyone hence you get tested and find out. Have you checked yours?

        "Sunshine doesn't work."

If sunshine worked for everyone in the adequate production of VitD, there wouldn't be such widespread deficiency in Aus.
Out of interest have you actually tested your D levels and what is it? I'd bet a few $$ it's not at optimal levels.

            @gimme: It's not the sunshine's fault.
It's our increasingly indoors sedentary lifestyle.
Also the scare campaign of skin cancer doesn't help - maybe relevant from the boomer days when no on used sunscreen.

    • But don't use any sunscreen!

    • The one I mentioned is vegan (naturelo), wasn't in the table.. most people will just buy the absolute cheapest. The strength of the caps are much better anyway.

Ps anything longer than about 15 min in Qld summer sun you'd want sunscreen anyway

IMHO don't waste time with the tiny 1000 iu pills they did nothing for me.
Get some 5000-10,000iu's off ebay and you'll notice a difference - especially in winter.

Was popping 10-15k a day in winter and haven't felt better.
1000iu is too little to notice.

    • At those doses make sure you're getting enough k2 (200 mcg / day) so the calcium doesn't get deposited where you don't want it. And yes 1000 doesn't do much if you're deficient. 5000 minimum.
A lot of people will have opinions about the sun being enough but don't actually get tested to really find out if it's true.

      • Agree 5000iu per day is the Go. Will have to look through the recommendations again, for a K2 as well (combined easier).

Plenty of rainy days lately, wouldn't bother taking on days out in the sun, and noting your body can store it so don't need to take every day.
