  • Wow, these prices are getting so cheap. Good for Ninty Switch?

    • Literally thinking the same thing, though not sure would need a high read for the switch.

    • … although the 512GB model has gone up in price (about $10) in the last few days… waiting for 3x camels to let me know when they get to the sweet spot… maybe circa $120

  • +3

I'd say so. The Nintendo Australia page says "high speed" is considered to be 60-95MB/s and anything above that will deliver an even better gameplay experience. Source

EDIT: Meant to reply to @bargainwhore

  • Take this with a grain of salt. I've had 2 Samsung micro SD cards slowly fail on me lately. I'm going back to SanDisk. I just got a 256gb SanDisk for $50 on Amazon if you're chasing one

    • +5

I've had the opposite happen. Had two sandisk sd cards, both failed. RMA'd them both. Then one of the new cards also failed.

I've avoided sandisk ultra microsd cards like the plague since

Swapped to samsungs and had 0 problems since. More notably all the issues i had on my S7 (at the time) with the photos app vanished as soon as i put the samsung card in.

This card is a pro plus which is better than the EVO plus/EVO select i've used in the past.

I think its probably down to luck between Sandisk and Samsung. I've had a couple of Sandisks fail on me over time but been using Samsung micro SDs for years now and yet to have one fail.

    Nice

    This one is $42.60:

Not quite as fast read/write speeds, but not bad?

EDIT: nvm, see swampson's binglee link below

this 256g Sammy Evo Plus still good for $29 (in stock currently)

    • I wish they bloody added stock on eBay
I am stuck with useless eBay GC's could have used them on this

      Btw not in stock anymore

      • +1

yeah the Binglee stock comes and goes .. i noticed as it's "sale ends in 8 days", that if you refresh later it'll show stock again.. been doing that for a few days on and off, so in next 8 days until offer ends, i'd say stock will pop up again at some point. Happy hunting!

        • Need to be on eBay though, otherwise Na can't really be bothered

    • Bought 4 of the Evo plus, seems like for less than half the price of the Pro's it's the way to go?

    • Yeah if you can wait until February

  • I can't believe 500gb nvme are the same price. My value of these things have been completely distorted. I can't tell if this is a good bargain, even though late last year, I've paid about the same price for 128gb for a lower class card.

    Different from evo?
UHS-1 max speed is 110mb/s, how do they do this 160?

    • Actually UHS-I has a maximum transfer speed of 104 Mbytes/second. They claim faster speeds because SanDisk created a proprietary technique to clock the data out faster, which only works with one specific model of SanDisk card reader, and with compatible cards.

A couple of other SD card companies have licensed the technology for their cards, but I believe only SanDisk makes the reader.

With anything other than that particular card reader, the top speed possible is 104Mbytes/second.

"UHS-1 max speed is 110mb/s, how do they do this 160?"
it is in the reading… UP TO 160mb/s. i.e. Burst speed vs sustained speed. Never confuse the two… just marketing hype. Look for reliable reviews that cover long-term performance.

  • Marketing?
This is for SD but the only diff is 80 vs 90 MB/s write speed for PRO

That link is for the older generation of cards, these are the 2021 cards released a few months ago. The linked review is from 2020.

  • is this overkill for a nintendo switch? i was looking for 256 micro for a nintendo switch.

    • ywah way over.
just get the cheapest at that size.

      • ok, gotcha. i see a sandisk for $42. i think i will go with that.

        • see if 26th gives any sales too

  • I am looking for memory card for my BlackVue 2 Channel Dash Cam 4K 30FPS - DR900X-2CH-32, would Samsung be compatible or can some one please suggest which one to buy thanks

  • I think there's a cheaper deal here in Amazon :

Over than $29 is not a deal for me.
