It's an auto so not even an awesome track car.

    Pfffffft. Miss.

You’re missing the bit where it had a head on with something which caused the airbags to deployed and major structural damage.

    Aside from that…..

    • Save from photos it didn't, it was hit at the front of the left front fender so the curtain airbag was deployed - but not the front ones.

What raised red flags for me was the look of that carpet line in the rear view through the boot. The gap between the boot door and the frame isn't the most level I've seen

Still, what's a bit of crabbing and a new set of tyres every three months…

I think I know what happened Mr Drifta

    Seat belt pre-tensioner | Unrepairable
    Airbag side | Unrepairable

So, you think you can repair them?

    Compliance Date: Unable to locate

    Ooh it gets even better

Didn't enough people put you off write-offs in your other thread?

    • As much as buying a repairable write off is stupid. Those two points just mean that they had to be replaced, which by the looks of it - they have been

    • My latest Purchase
June 2009 Prado for $9400, on road with 6 months rego (Inc transport fee) for $12000
      Says otherwise…

      • A written off Prado, or a normal decent one?

      • Inc transport fee

Buying it off a scammer on gumtree?

Written off in 2019. Someone has partially tarted it up so it looks like the damage is not as bad as it is, and the people who this appeals to, won't know better, and will think it'll be a cheap fix.

    • This is the biggest red flag for me. The accident happened back in 2019 and its still not repaired? If it was easy repair it would have been done by now

I agree, this car definitely looks like someone has tried to repair it, and likely found that it's not viable. So they're trying to recoup whatever $ they can, by flogging it off at an online auction where you likely won't do a physical inspection of it.

Either that, or they repaired it and now can’t register it.

MoghtyCarMods (YouTube) just bought a write off BRZ that had been repaired to a good standard but didn’t have receipts for the repair work. Cannot register it without the receipts.

        • and VIN number of the car the parts came off.

  • How this vehicle is not a stat write-off is beyond me. This has "do not touch" written all over it.

You could dump $10,000 into fixing this and never get any if that back. It is going to wear that WOVR listing as a scar the rest of its life.

QLD laws literally just about to ban repairable write offs in Jan. Check very closely.

Also, I've had several repairables from insurance auctions and wouldn't touch that.

  • Pics don't match write off info so there's something dodgy there. Not worth it if your intention is to register and use it as a road car and price is too high IMO for a parts car.

Only as a track or parts car.

    • Could have been a good track or drift car but its an automatic so there is little use for it.

  • So, you think you can repair them?

Unrepairable does not men unreplaceable, it means you buy a new airbag.

Look at the rear too, looks like it has 4 wheel steering on one side, and the caster is shot on the other side. Please don't.

    Just my two cents

Front impact (on passenger fender) appears visually relatively minor. Take a look at rear passenger wheel; its not even straight/aligned properly. Looks like its taken two hits of some sort looking at the rims.

FYI if you were going to fix this properly (via insurance job)
    1) You'll take it to a mechanical shop to tear down the entire suspension
    2) inspect/clean/replace broken/bent parts (probably hubs/LCA/arms)
    3) align the car on a vehicle chassis jig
    4) 4 wheel alignment to make sure its square
    5) repair airbags (depending if you are road registering it)
    6) body works (depending on use)

Suspension work alone is worth couple thousand at least

  • Some of these repairable write off's may have potential but there is a lot of unexpected costs faults that come up that are not shown by the seller or known by the seller. Unless you are a mechanic or panel beater prepared to do the work yourself with a network of contacts/friends in the trade it's not worth the hassle. Steer clear of it. Unless you have money to burn.

    • A factory jig would come in handy, Queensland has enough bananas already…
