    Yeah, one of the few sets I've purchased and I haven't even opened it yet. Doh. Still, got it for $89 or so which was decent enough.

  Also check Zing if your local standalone EB doesn’t have stock. My local standalone Zing (in the same shopping centre) fortunately had stock for both the Castle and Airship.

  What's an expansion set? Is it necessary to have the base/starter set?

    The sets have NFC bricks that interact with the Mario or Luigi figures from base sets. If you’re just buying the sets to display like the AirShip then you don’t need the base set, but to unlock the full functionality and “play” with them you’d probably want a starter with either Mario or Luigi.

    Apparently you are a little late to the party. When the deal was first posted there were plenty of stock in metro Melbourne for C&C at least. At this price they are bound to sell out fast.
