McDonald's Chip Box Poorly Filled

Just bought a fast food meal from drive through, and we ordered large fries. Instead we got a large size fries packaging with only 1/2 size portion.

Does each fast food has a standard portion when customer ordered different sizes or the fast food restaurant staff just serve however much they want?

      • maybe, though the last 2 'fries' I got were only half filled.
I took photos to send to their complaints dept., but from past experience, that is a fruitless venture

      • in saying that, KFC will send you vouchers when you let them know of their errors. I know they're both big shtty corporations, but KFC do a wayyyy better customer relations job (from my experience).

      • A brief search on maccas in the states

Complaining is like a hobby in the states though lol.

        • mmmm, maybe I should re-phrase what I said.

A brief search on maccas in the states will find media organisations, pollsters, randoms on social medial platforms, and others highlighting the poor quality of ingredients. Many of whom give this as a reason for its decreasing market share.

          • @Eeples: … Complaining and suing is still a like a hobby in the states.

  • Feel like it's a bit of Russian roulette, sometimes you order a medium and they overfill to a large, sometimes you order a large and it looks like it's a small.

To lazy to take it back myself but from working at Macca's years ago if you complain about it they'll fill it up, majority of people don't complain so theirs no reason for Macca's to fix it.

If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

    • That's a bit harsh on jv.

  • I remember an experience at in country Victoria where I also got only half fries, little sauce on the burger and very little lettuce. Even the sundae had very little topping. When I asked my friend who previously worked at one he said it's mostly likely the owner of the business being tight. Telling the staff to short customers.

    I don't think McDonald's would care unless it's a safety issue.

      'I don't think McDonald's would care unless it's a safety issue'

McDonald's has angered franchisees by opening up new stores close to existing ones, cannibalising older stores' customers.

seems to indicate there's more money for the head office in doing that than in actually supporting existing stores that are paid for by the franchisee, not the head office.

so I wonder how often reduced-quantity fries might be due to franchisees feeling screwed by head office and simply trying to survive - 'it's like a jungle sometimes' - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PobrSpMwKk4

  • Hasn’t anyone seen the video small medium large packaging holds same amount smal
If u orded a lage fries it’s same amount as small but your charged for large

  • Depends on the staff member how well they were trained, their attitude, how their day was going and how busy they were.

Now days I always check my order before leaving or at least the carpark mainly because with KFC they use to leave something out of the order 30 % of the time.

Although they have not stuffed the order in a long time.. Better management? On another note tampering with food from one of the big takeaways is unlikely due to cameras, other staff usually a manager is there as well or not far away. Plus from the waiting/serving area the public can see a fair bit of the kitchen area.

  • Seems like the quantity of fries matches the shrinking burger size. See how small a fillet-o-fish burger is these days ?

  • I get significantly less portion size for chips roughly 1/5 times.

Only thing you can do is check before you leave. Calling up asking them to compensate you? I don't have time for that…

  • The Maccas near my old place would always underfill the chips. Always. Must have been a training thing or something because neither of the ones near my current place do the same thing.

They sqeeze front and back to allow less in, as opposed to the sides. Was trained to do this many years ago. Also you're better off getting a small size, I reckon they cram more in. Mostly satisified with small, never medium and don't get large.

    • Care to dish on some more insights? I worked at Pizza Hut many many years ago and the assistant manager trained me to put less than the correct topping on the pizza.

  • I once got a half filled small fries, like literally 8 fries in there.
