      I am confused how these branded stand mixers seem to be more expensive/valuable now compared to what I remember

      are they very durable (> 10 years), larger capacity?

      Equivalent comparisons like those various blender tools where the motors easily burn out or belts break down

        Kitchenaid is a top tier brand, and they have earned that reputation.

        Between my parents and my brother, we live in 3 different cities, with a Kitchenaid Stand mixer in each home.

            @UsernameChecksIn: Yeah, but definitely do your own research, every brand has made bad products from time to time, or is even systematically weaker than other offerings in a specific product line [say, toasters in general]. I.e. If I'm buying a big powerful car, I look at very different brands than if I'm shopping at the lower rungs.
