  • Thanks Op, got a bit excited and thought it was a new low for the C1 55”…😅

So tempted to get 3x 83” for my sim rig… but I’m sure wife might murder me in my sleep….

    • +1

Nah she won’t. She will kill you the first thing she noticed you bought ‘em.

  • 55" is 1999, i would think thats a better deal than this.

    • +1

Some people are actually using these as a computer monitor, since they're a far nicer picture than 99% of desktop panels so even smaller would be fine.

If you are going to spend this kind of money for a computer screen, you might as well get a Samsung Odyssey G9 for about the same price.

        • +4

Not even close to the same image quality.

        • +3

The G9 has worse picture quality and pretty shoddy quality control. A mate of mine was about to buy one before I convinced him to get the C1. He's had no regrets. I use a C1 in the same way and it's the best computer monitor I've ever used or owned (and I came from a 34" Acer Predator ultrawide). Can't recommend the C1 48" enough!

          • @Demarque: How far do you sit from your 48 incher? 4K at 48" is the same dpi as FHD at 24".

            • @John Doh: About 90-100cm away. It's mounted to the wall behind my desk. Pixel density hasn't been noticeable to me, but then I usually like to be pretty close to my monitors most of the time anyway

          Apples and oranges.
          I’ve owned the g9 and g9 neo.

There’s so many issues with them, flickering, vrr is broken, and most games don’t support the resolution and fps. And even if it does, games run like shit even on my 3080, and even if it doesn’t run like shit, the edges of the screen are fishbowl.

Also built in monitor scaling doesn’t work, so even if you wanted to reduce the resolution of your games and have black bars on the side, it won’t let you and just stretches the entire game over the monitor.

          Waste of time.

          • @KenDiaMoi: Reading your review, the 38" alienware is probably a better choice I guess.

    • +1

May be for some people, but I think the 55 inch has been that cheap before, whereas this seems to be the lowest the 48 inch has been.

  • My wife has a very low WAF for large TVs. The only way I could get her to accept the 65inch C1 was to build a new room for it where she could sit 6 metres from the TV. Ended up very expensive!

If idiots stopped buying these then this would be the price for 55".

    I paid $1712 for my 55"

    • +3

Part of the reason for the pricing of the 48" vs 55" is how each panel is cut from one larger panel. It's not at all cheaper for LG to make a 48" vs a 55" panel since they both are cut from one larger piece that is only equally divisible in certain ways.

I don't believe we will see a significantly cheaper OLED tv than these until we get sizes of 42" or less, when they can get two panels from the same cut out as a 55" panel, if that makes sense?

That's why the price of the 48" is so close (or even the same at times) as the 55"

      • +1

Seriously, if they could make 34 inch ones efficiently they'd be selling them by the truckload already.

  • Bargain. Thanks OP. Price matched at HN as it's closer.

  • Listed price seems to be inclusive of GST, which jumps to $1,980- Cheaper to just walk into somewhere like JB HiFi https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/lg-c1-48-self-lit-oled-4k…
