[PC, Epic] Free - Moving Out @ Epic Games

4770

Today's daily freebie, Moving Out! Same as last night, store page won't be online until 3:00am as it isn't currently available on the EGS.

Fun couch co-op, definitely a great "add to library and almost forget" title. Might come in handy when you want something to play with people that's at your house.

From the Steam store:
Moving Out is a ridiculous physics-based moving simulator that brings new meaning to "couch co-op"! Are you ready for an exciting career in furniture? As a newly certified Furniture Arrangement & Relocation Technician, you’ll take on moving jobs all across the busy town of Packmore.

Nice. Gonna need to practice moving out after the divorce from Overcooked.

Try It Takes Two before Moving Out. It might save your marriage.

      • I don't know, playing a game about divorce with your significant other seems more than a bit weird. Speaking of which, I'm going to play it with my wife tonight.

    • +4

Haha this is true. My wife and I got into a legit fight after playing overcooked!

    • I second this.

    • Gimme a ***ing onion! No not a tomato! I SAID GIMME A ***ING ONION!!!!!

Got this in a humblebundle but never played it because no online multiplayer which was disappointing.

    • Still the case?

      • Yeah still no online.

    • If its on HumbleBundle, then as a Steam game your could use Steam Remote Play to invite online friends to play with you.
For the online experience of working together with complete strangers, there's the community group/hub/forum to look at.

You could also add the Epic Games launcher as a external game in Steam and do it there as well

What's some other new PC couch op preferably with split screen available?

    • +1

It Takes Two is amazing. Lots of deals and lots of people heaping on praise.

      • +2

Yeah it's a beautifully made game with a lovely modern story.

  • +8

Personally think overcooked 2 is heaps better but not a bad game if you’ve finished overcooked 2 (+dlc). Plus, it’s free so why not :D

It seems such a waste of time
If that's what it's all about
    Mama if that's movin' up
    Then I'm movin' out

Co-developed by an Australian developer too.

    • I thought it was entirely developed by Australians?

SMG Studio? Then just published by Team 17?

      • You might be right I just thought it was part developed by another. Either way it's worth supporting local talent.

  • oh man, I bought this on last week's deal :(

I've held out buying this all this time - winning! Now just to figure out how to connect controllers to the PC…

    • I have a steamlink which acts as a bridge for TV and PC. Works brilliantly.

      • Yeah but that means buying new hardware to play a free game :(

        • I mean, it's actually super useful not just to play one game… But of course depends on what you do with it. It's not currently sold any more anyway.

        • FYI - Steam Link doesn't require the physical hardware any more.

If you have an Android TV or device you can just install the app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.valvesoftw…

    • What controllers you got? I used 360 controller, and Logitech’s cheapest wired one. If not PS4 and Xbox later controllers work too.

      • All of the above - I've just never looked into it.

Having just quickly googled it looks pretty straightforward - download DS4, set up and connect over BT. Sweet!

        • I had more success just connecting PS4 controllers via bluetooth as a 'generic controller'. The game correctly identified it as a PlayStation controller and had the appropriate symbols.

When I tried with DS4 Windows initially, I had an issue of it logging keystrokes twice.

    • You can side loading through Steam which support a lot of controller including PS4 controller
      then you dont need DS4

    • OMG. I'll take a look just because of my name T_T

I thought this game had online co-op, "couch co-op" is just awful on PC. That also means I'll never get to play this now.

    • +2

I'm pretty fond of couch coop on the pc and I'd encourage you to try it if you haven't. If you have a laptop you can just connect it to you TV / couch. If you have a desktop your screen is probably big enough for two people to fit anyway. I did struggle with 4 player coop though on a desktop.

Only issue is that couch coop games for the pc are relatively uncommon. Lots of games are couch coop on console and that feature is explicitly not available on the pc version.

      • My PC is huddled in the corner and the screen is absolutely not big enough for two people.

There's also no way my mates are going to do couch co-op on a PC when there's a PS4 in the other room. I don't know why they wouldn't add the option for both like Overcooked 2 did. I have that on PS4 and can couch co-op it but I can also play with my mates online if I'd rather do that. Couch co-op on PC is relatively uncommon because it's such a terrible system.

        • I think moving out is one screen shared together and not split screen

As a veteran of over 10+ moves over the years, this game will be like reliving a nightmare!

Just moved my brothers house after he lived there for 10 years or so. 5 truck loads of big stuff but definitely another 2-3 of little stuff that they should have turfed ages ago.

This will be me next week - dreading it!

  • Don't forget to buy the DLC. I love this game more than Overcooked, but I might be the minority.

    Nevertheless, it's really fun

  • Cheers!

    • No problem, enjoy :)
