  • Just went to the Ponting Wines website to see how much they charge for it. They are selling the 2018 vintage for $149 a 6 pack. Wondering how much difference there is between vintages? Still looks like an absolute bargain,

Looks like the 2019 vintage was a shocker - extremely hot and up to 50% less crop than 2018 - in SA except for the Coonawarra region which escaped the high temps. Buyer beware.

I've read about the lower yields, but nothing about reduced quality. In fact there have been reports about the vintage being excellent.

      Here's one report: https://vinehealth.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/Barossa…

    • Hi omblygombly. 2019 a good vintage in McLaren Vale, certainly no shocker. Last weak vintage in the Vale would be regarded as 2011 (wet) or 2008 (hot). An McLaren Vale Shiraz at $10/btl made by Ben Riggs….. got to be worth a try for sure! Cheers! RD :-)

Thanks OP,at $10 a bottle I bought a 6 pack. Just wondering how long will it cellar ? If you can keep a red cellared for few years it pays off.

    • I'm not sure on the wine itself, but I'd say a mid-priced MV Shiraz at a usual RRP of around $25/btl, you'd get 5 to 8 years from it :-)

      • Thanks Richard, I was thinking up to 5 years. I gave my brother 2 x six packs of your 2019 Bec Hardy M V Shiraz for his birthday. Might have to do a side by side tasting when the weather is a wee bit cooler.

        • Great idea. I was gifted a Mr Riggs 2019 too for Christmas from a supplier. I’ll probably tuck into that this week! 😊. Enjoy!

Don't mind if I do. Anyone care to join me for a tipple at drinks break?

Has anyone had their order delivered and tried the wine ?

    • Sorry it's a late reply - we opened one last night to try. It's rated 3.9 on Vivino (2017/2018 - 82 ratings) and I'd rate this 2019 vintage same. Very typical MV Shiraz - easy drinking. Needs to breathe a little. $10 a bottle delivered is a steal - probably similar to $20 wine at places like DM.

  • Still nothing and no reply from their support email , anyone received them wines yet?
