Decent reviews and plenty of sales make this look like a great budget choice. Comes with quick release plate, remote, and a mobile / laptop holder. I have a similar looking cheap one and it's great. Might be right to mount your Christmas present on. Close to best price on Camelx3.

  • Firstly I would not trust Amazon reviews and secondly with camera tripods more often than not you get what you pay for.

If the tripod is cheap and poorly made/designed it will not do anything to dampen vibrations and in some cases do the opposite. It will also likely fall apart after a few uses.

I would recommend buying the most expensive and best built tripod you can afford once rather than be disappointed and spend more again for a better one done the road.

    • Any ideas on the best out there? Always on the lookout for the right one for our 5D Mark IV.

Over 1000 amazon reviews is a good sample size. "Best" depends what you are doing with your 5D, do you shoot youtube talking head stuff? Action sequences? Still shots? Astrophotography? Does it need to be mobile or lightweight for hiking? All will change what you need. That's why I have a variety of tripods to suit the job style. A good mid range tripod would be something like: https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product/B072NZL11B but fair warning - it has good amazon reviews.

        • Looks like quite a nice tripod for the price. How about you, what would you recommend as something taller and more sturdy if you had to buy one?

I have some smaller and portable ones, but I'm looking for something to add to the collection that will be a bit more stable if I need the extra height from it and also in stronger winds. Without breaking the bank ideally!

I know many have a hook, so I can hang a bag/weight off it, but I want it to be more stable to start with too.

          Thanks 🙂

          • @mrbargainz: Neewer make a good cheap one or one I posted above it a better build.

I would aim for a reputable brand such as Gitzo or Manfrotto. I have a a 190 and 290 series of the latter for the better part of a decade including surf, travel and landscape photography and have not had any issues.

If I was to get one today I would go for the BeFree range. They have a nice guide here:

        https://www.manfrotto.com/au-en/products/photo-tripods/tripo…

When travelling I have used some of the up and coming Chinese brand and although they include a lot of features the build quality i.e plastics, screws, paint, etc just does not hold up wells and warranty/out of warranty support is subpar.

If you are not sure I would suggest contacting photographers online or joining workshops and meetups that shoot your style of photography. Besides some handy tips, along with the usual gumtree and eBay there are many photographers looking to upgrade as their skill set improves and willing to sell their existing pro tripods at a substantial discount.

        • BeFree USD$600 to over $1000 is clearly comparable to an AU$36 product. Lol. I'm sure they are waaaaaay the hell better quality than this. Did I mention this was a budget option?

    • Horses for courses, I have a really expensive good big heavy tripod that is rock solid. Rarely use it for everyday stuff as it is a pain to carry around. I also have tiny little tripods and one with flexible legs. Also have a 3 metre carbon fibre selfie stick for my 360 camera and a gimbal. The one I use most in my studio is the one like this as I film from a single position and it's light, easy to use and more than solid enough for what I want. I have the others for specific purposes, but I use one like this that cost the same price at Amazon most often now. Plus I don't worry about being precious with it, cheap to replace if I ever break it.

        I wouldn't risk putting a $1000+ camera on a $36 tripod. It doesn't even have a removable head.

        • Then buy a better one. I think I pointed out that it is a budget tripod above. My Canon 600D lives on my cheap neewer amazon tripod, although to be fair I have mounted it on wheels which counter balances nicely.

The negative reviews consistently state missing parts, difficult to setup and unable to hold a interchangeable lens camera.

‘If you are looking for a camera stand with both price and performance, Endurax will be your overwhelming choice.’

This is landfill material and anybody who purchases it would be sorely disappointed.

        • Gosh, thanks for your point of view on a product you have never seen. 4% being 1 star is obviously a 100% bad product. Did I mention it was a budget option? It's kind of for those who can't afford or need a $100-$500 option.

I just bought smallrig tripod $97 . Cause i owned
Some smallrig products , i knew the quality of those. So i gave it a try and just got it before xmas. Very solid and good quality compared to the price what i paid for

    • Yes I have a small rig clamp for mounting things in weird places. Good quality. In fact I posted a deal on ozb for it previously.
