I got my $40 voucher straightaway after signing up, valid for 30 days. Not sure if this is targeted.

Ebay plus has been really disappointing over the past 12 months, cancelled my subscription. $9 deal will not be good enough to make me sign up again.

    • +3

Fully agree. And if there are problems they escalate and escalate and no solution. Amazon prime 24/7 chat is instantly refunding when there are problems. Often they don’t even want the item back…

    • Won't even touch it for $1 let alone $9. I think you probably don't know a lot of us got charged in full when promotion was on and clearly says $1 and charged $49 only PayPal dispute fixed it

  • Where is the voucher meant to show up? Signed up by clicking the banner about 8 hours ago and haven't gotten anything in my ebay messages, ebay summary or emails.

    • Shouldn’t have signed up…

    • +1

Do you have any vouchers shown? In my experience they show up right away in the summary, and then show up a day later through messages/email. Talk to support via chat if you want to buy something right away.

      • Summary shows 2 claimed $10 vouchers. Chat support saying it should appear within 24hrs apparently.

        • +1

Then you're looking in the right place. If chat won't help, then you have to wait unfortunately.

    • Looks like this is a targeted offer as no voucher is showing for me too. Would downvote this but I can't.

      • I signed up directly from the promotion banner in the eBay app, stating I'd recieve the voucher by signing up. Would be pretty shady if they were showing this promo banner to people that weren't even elligible.

        • +1

The banner was not showing for me. It would appear they're screening users of the app to ensure a past user who cancelled their Plus trial, isn't allowed to obtain this offer. Regardless, it's definitely not working for everyone.

        • Sounds like typical eBay.

Excludes WA, NT and Tas. - Not great.

    • I recently got the $40 voucher and am in WA.

Did you meant the free shipping? Yep, that doesn't always work. Still worth it for the special promos. Just yesterday I found a $10 voucher that was supposed to expire in 31/12 and still worked for a product that was genuinely better than what I found elsewhere at the same (pre-voucher) price.

      • $40 voucher is supposedly excluded from WA. I confirmed this when it was $50 and the support chat said no. Maybe it just auto sends it anyway?

        • Here's what I see in the sign up link:

Free express metro delivery on millions of eBay Plus items ^^

^^ Excludes WA, NT and TAS. T&Cs app ly.

That's specific to the free delivery, means Plus is of less value in those locations (and in non-metro locations in included states). Voucher itself is available.

          • @team teri: I have this under the vocher

"* Voucher can only be used once. Valid for 30 days. $40.01 min spend. Eligible customers only. Ltd time only. Exclusions apply. Read full terms and conditions below.

^ Paid members only. Min spend $50. Plus items only.

^^ Excludes WA, NT and TAS. T&Cs apply.

You know those $5 vouchers you get each month? Have you ever been able to use them? I haven't. No matter what, it says invalid. Ebay plus seller item, $80, still can't use it. It's rubbish.

  • hmm, had the trial "cancel" but not cancel happen. Remember a popup saying it was cancelled on ebay, but no confirmation email. Few days later, it renews… Decided to let it ride and wasn't too bad. Had about five $5 late shipping vouchers and bought a few plus deals. Combined with SocialGood's "100%" (70-80%) crypto back was probably peak online buying for me.

Oh thank you!! Reminded me to cancel my existing membership ☺️ Got it last year with the $50 voucher for $49 eBay membership

  • +2

Saw this ad banner, signed up but didn’t get the voucher.

  • This $40 voucher has been at the top of my page for about a year. I just can’t see the value when it cost about $49 to join and you can’t double dip with the codes.

Mainly a lurker, but occasionally post. Have to agree with the absolutely terrible eBay customer service. Joined eBay Plus, only because I was going to buy something and they were offering an “instant” $40 gift card for joining which I was going to use to make my purchase, even though I didn’t really want to join. Never received the “instant” gift card. Customer service said it can take up to ten days to receive the “instant” card. Escalated three times. I had been an eBay plus member in the past, but let it lapse as I really saw no value in it. Never again. As someone mentioned in an earlier post, eBay is now a last option if no one else has it. Amazon is a far better value and their customer service is spot on.

    • I certainly agree about Amazon customer service compared with that of eBay. I haven’t done any hard comparison but it seems to me that eBay is cheaper but Amazon has better quality and better tools to assess quality. And Amazon Prime is a winner for me, with the fantastic delivery time combined with the other Prime benefits, including video and music.

      What have others found?

      • eBay customer support is definitely rubbish.
I have a plus account though which for me is worth it even without the discount for the savings I make. I am buying from eBay at least weekly.

On the flip side, I have tried and tried to justify the cost of Amazon Prime based on multiple posts here about the benefits, but contrary to other members, I can't see any value in this at all.

I wouldn't use Amazon Music (I have Spotify which is vastly superior) nor would I use Video (I have a Usenet sub, so get the content anyway). This leaves purchases and I probably buy from Amazon maybe once a year and it is generally international. Always find either the pricing to be higher than alternative sources (if you can find what you want at all), or items are international and won't ship to AU.
        YMMV though.

  • I looked at this yesterday, since I was about to buy a $44 item but decided against it.

The 'express metro delivery' excludes Perth anyway, so I saw extremely poor value in it.
Almost everything has free shipping on eBay as it is anyway.

  • You'll receive a $30 giftcard if you follow previous posts. Worked mid Dec and the year before too

  • Haven't received anything from my ebay plus subscription. Will definitely not be getting when year up and haven't received any $5 vouchers or anything that has been suggested above. I doubt worth $9 unless regular buyer on ebay.

I wouldn't sign up for ebay plus even it is $10 a year. I had a problem with eBay not refunding $1100 worth of egift cards for over 6 months for a purchase of an iphone from Mobileciti whitebox saga and I tried to contact over 40+ ebay livechat agents and a couple of ebay help desk agents in the US over the phone and numerous emails to different departments, I almost had to go to the local tribunal to get my money back at the end.

  • The ebay plus sales are terrible compared with the ones we used to get 2 years ago. I will wait for the $50 coupon or some good ebay plus sales to come up before getting ebay plus again.

  • 2021 was the year I switched from eBay to Amazon, even though I still had eBay Plus.

    • +2

I have done the same in the end of 2021.

  • +2

So many negative feedbacks why people still + it, we should avoid their tricky promotion IMO.

  • Thanks OP, I paid, purchased iPhone on eBay plus with latest discount and then got $40 voucher only to be told my payment failed.

Tried paying again still failed but got discount and voucher is still active.

So looks like they don't want my money but I got the benefits.

  • jackbay is useless !

  • +3

I got plus last time for $49 with a $50 voucher essentially meaning I got paid a $1 to have ebay plus for a year which I shouldn't really complain about. However, it's really not even worth it but I'd do it for that, but not $40. Even then, I'd struggle to find something to buy due to all the restrictions, time limit and crap selection.

Compare it to Amazon with movies, music, games, books, daily deals and fast shipping and ebay Plus is an absolute joke. I got like two plus deals in a year and even those took almost two weeks to arrive with their "Express shipping" and everything else is price jacked. Pass.

  • Thanks OP. Just renewed by first cancelling and immediately got a $40 voucher as well as a $30 voucher within 3 days. $49 membership with $70 worth of vouchers is definitely worth it for me.

    • I've cancelled my ebay plus earlier and I was about to sign up for the $40 offer (I've got a banner).

How do I get the additional $30? Or is it too late now as I currently do not have ebay plus anymore?

      • Too late now as you had to first accept the $30 voucher before finally cancelling.

        • So during the cancel process i accept the $30 voucher to stay with ebayplus.. Then i cancel immediately after and sign up with the banner promo for the additional $40?

Wouldn't they not honor both? It mentions not providing the $30 voucher until the next payment is made.

          • +2

@kuwahshi: That’s correct. I instantly received the $40 voucher and the. Received the $30 gift card a few days later.

  • +1

Is there a way to find if you are eligible? I tried to click on the banner from an incognito window and it is still showing. Anyone signed up and didn't receive the voucher?

  • For example things like this case
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/234366202060?
Where on the eBay app it says it's $7.95 off with ebay plus, how does that work exactly, is that 8 off a code that I need to use meaning I can't use this $40 voucher or is it just a new price I would see.
And second can I use giftcards still with this code.
    Thanks

    • Don’t use the code that gives $8. Use the one that gives $40 off (it should appear in coupons section at checkout, or in the “my ebay” or “my summary” on desktop)

And yes, you can use GCs with this $40 off code

      • So can you 100% confirm that on that case, the 7.95 off or whatever with ebay plus,.. is a code that I need to enter at checkout therefore invalidating this code? Cause if I can't then ima just buy one month of ebay plus

        • The $7.95 is a separate code and different to the $40 one. You can only use one or the other.

To make explaining simpler, let's say CODE1 gives you $7.95 off and CODE2 gives you the $40 off

You can't use CODE1 and CODE2 together. You can only use either CODE1 or CODE2.

But you can use gift cards on top of either CODE1 or CODE2

If you buy 1-month membership for $5 just to get the $7.95 discount, then you save only like $3. However, if you buy a membership for $49 and get $40 coupon, you technically spent $9 but you get a membership for the whole year, which is very worth it imo.

(Assuming you're buying the membership for this PC case)

          Hope this helps :)

  • I had my eBay plus membership cancelled as I had closed a credit card that it might be still using, although my preferred payment had changed.

Guess it is for the good.
Hardly used the $5 discounts, and they had stopped anyway for long periods.

Might rejoin of there is another $50 voucher to offset the joining fee of $49.

  • Instant $40 voucher to spend on anything
    Monthly $5 eBay vouchers
    ^
Free express metro delivery on millions of eBay Plus items
    ^^
    Year-round member-only savings
Free returns on millions of Plus items

So this is pretty stupid if you're always using afterpay cause you can't stack purchases and most items are not $50 first payment and only items you purchase have a discount code already most of the time or not ebay plus at all.
If you're going to make big purchases then you will benefit $5 off with a monthly coupon which means you have to spend $50 which isn't even clear, just says $5 off.
It's a rich man's deal and if you're happy with the shipping speeds already which I am, even when not a plus member items have been arriving quickly within the timeframe given, pretty earlier imo unless you meet that one seller who somehow managed to take so long to send it after the timeframe which I already got another item then got ebay customer support to give me a refund and returned the first one cause it came too late.
Verdict is if you're going to spend that much on an item you know is $40 voucher will work for such as, Ebay plus item and no discount code supplied by the seller already then go ahead, you might benefit from the "metro" shipping and if you plan to purchase more each month for $50 then you'll definitely benefit from the $5 if a discount isn't already on those items and I'm sure that has to be ebay plus also.
The year-round members only savings?? is this more random coupons that only give you a certain time period to purchase other things that are ebay plus + $50? so it's like, trying to reel you in at this point and get your attention to spend money on ebay items.
Free returns? My experience in returning items include a barcode which if you contact the seller or return on amazon they'll specifically tell you which post office or couriers to go to with the barcode the item was sent with so keep your packaging until you decide you're not returning it or tell them to send you another barcode.
This is all so confusing I spent my entire morning being pestered by the thought I'm missing out on something.

They should include an achievement in using this membership: Big Spender

    • Also to add.
I am still confused by this:
      * Voucher can only be used once. Valid for 30 days. $40.01 min spend. Eligible customers only. Ltd time only. Exclusions apply. Read full terms and conditions below.

^ Paid members only. Min spend $50. Plus items only.

So minimum spend is $40.1? but also it's $50? does that mean the voucher is $40? and min spend has to be $50?
So confused at this point. I think that's what it means.
Not min spend $40, but $50. urgh

      • Min spend $50. Plus items only.
